Re: Great Glen Cycle Route

No it was not far after leaving the road. There was a tangle of tree roots and muddy sections.

A mountain biker coming the other way thought we were mad when he saw our tourers and advised us to go back.

Re: Great Glen Cycle Route

There's a section south west of the Bridge of Oich which is dreadful. We gave up on it and took the A82

Re: Going around Taunton

We liked Taunton. Cycled right into the middle along the canal and then took another cycle route out of town to Wellington.

The warm sunshine may have helped.

Re: Training Route which one is best

We did the Devon Coast to Coast both ways 6 weeks before we did our MacJOGLE in May. It was a very good last training run and allowed us to test our ability to cycle unsupported for 4 consecutive days. I have just uploaded a full journal to http://www.macjogle.co.uk and it is also available in the J...

Re: Would it count...

I did meet someone doing precisely this during my recent JOGLE. His problem was getting a pass out from home! Since it's a personal challenge it's really up to you whether you are happy with it. I suspect that you would actually feel a little dissatisfied and would go back to do it "properly&qu...

Re: LEJOG Camera found Lifton

A happy postscript to this thread - the owner has just contacted me and has been reunited with his camera. The funny thing is that he didnt even realise that he had lost it!! The police got in touch with him after I gave them the camera and the photo of his number plate. He has given us a donation o...

Re: JOG signpost picture

Go to a Police station and tell them you have found a camera

I did that earlier today. I left them a picture showing the car numberplate.

Hopefully he will get it back.

Re: JOG signpost picture

I previously posted about the camera I found at Launceston. Well the chap on that (who I still havent tracked down) took his own signpost with him - presumably because he started at the crack of dawn. You can see the picture on this poster http://www.gp-it.co.uk/macjogle/camera.pdf Peter

Re: JOG signpost picture

We had a nasty experience with the JOG signpost. He was there when we arrived to start our ride and we paid the necessary fee. When we got back home - no sign of picture so I rang the company (fortunately hadnt lost the receipt along the way) and they said it had been sent out 2 weeks ago. It arrive...

Re: Penrith - Windermere A592

We did JOGLE recently and went from Carlisle to Threlkeld and on to Bowness via the back of Thirlmere. There was quite a climb from Carlisle up onto Mungrisdale common but it was absolutely beautiful with free range horses and a very nice community pub (frequented by Prince Charles) and tearoom in H...

Re: JOGLE Route

We did the Taunton canal path last week and the biggest problem was the compulsory dismounts every time you go under a bridge

My wife likes canal paths because they are flat but I find them a bit slow

Re: MacJOGLE

We finished at Lands End yesterday. Fantastic weather and the hoped for northerly wind helped us most of the way. My wife Jane who did it with me hadn't cycled over 10 miles this time last year so it's within anyone's capability. 50 miles a day over 3 weeks with short days at the start and finish wo...

LEJOG Camera found Lifton

We are almost at the end of our JOGLE and on the road between Lifton and Liftondown I found a Canon camera this afternoon. We looked at the pictures to see if there were any clues to identify the owner and it seems that he is doing LEJOG and set off early this morning as there are pictures of him in...

Google probably refused to pay the fee to have the signpost erected
