It's from the Chief Whip's spokesperson.

Ah, we can add 'abuse of the English language' to this government's misdemeanours. Not for the first time.

Apologies to the Guardian :D

Hmm! Unattributed source  . The Grauniad?

Curious expression "suspended the whip from". Wrapping it round his neck might have been better.

Re: .... which organisations/charities might use upright adult trikes?

Thanks to both for your helpful suggestions.

After Nearholmer's post I did a search which turned up 'Streetbikes' (among others), and it was helpful to have emleyman to back this up.

I've passed this info on, via an intermediary, to the person with the trike. Will let you know if I hear how things go.

.... which organisations/charities might use upright adult trikes?

I know of someone who has a Pashley adult trike - like this:

They would like it to 'go to a good home', and are currently wanting about £50 for it **. Is this the sort of thing that voluntary bodies/old people's homes etc might be looking for? (Or perhaps it would be a useful n+1 for a stately Sunday afternoon amble down the prom ?).

Any suggestions who to approach, please? Available in West Yorks area.

**ETA - might be negotiable

Jdsk wrote: 24 Jan 2024, 11:21am We've got a "one bad apple" thread. I learnt this as a proverbial description based on one bad apple causing all of the others in the barrel to rot.

It's now sometimes used to mean "there's only one bad one, all of the others are OK". Which is just about the opposite.

The history:

This seems to lose a valuable and admirably concise concept.

I share your frustration. This is perhaps an example of the Humpty Dumpty philosophy of language where "a word means what I want it to mean, no more, no less".

While we may hope that others will share a community understanding of meaning, we can only remain eternally vigilant to ensure that what is being said/written is unambiguous. Politics comes to mind

Just the thing to add to the water in your bidon on long, cold rides? Or maybe not?😉

Hmm! The photo is the right way up in my photos app, but despite rotating it every which way, it insists on toppling over in my post! I'm afraid you'll just have to list to starboard to look at it. Or wait for Jonathan to give it a nudge

Sunak appoints a Minister for Nonsense but now has scrapped the Minister for the Disabled.
Looking at this on the bright-side; if you were disabled would you really want a Tory Minister of the nasty party with an official capacity to hatch evil plots against you?
I really hope that, come the General Election, there'll be a majority vote to scrap all the rest of the tory ministers, including the PM.

I'd have expected a few more in the "genuinely can't retrieve" category, but otherwise seems to reflect party lines opinion.
I guess Jonathan's point is that only 19% of tories are prepared to insist that the messages are truly beyond recall, and that 58% think that Sunak is being less than straightforward about this (ie he is effectively lying). This did surprise me somewhat.

Re: Mudguards for holeless fork

You could consider using zip-ties. One either side, attached via two small holes drilled in the 'guard on either side and tied over the 'shoulder' of the fork. I use a single zip-tie through the 'guard and over the brake-bolt where clearance is tight. Rattle-free and lasts for years.
