Thanks for the info and tip. I'll look at getting a steel replacement to match type/size, as likely more durable than aluminium alloy.

Re: Headset replacement parts // Tange Seiki Falcon
Good question. I'm enquiring locally today. It should be 1"/24TPI, as that would be the common thread type for 1" fork tube.
Oh, and the thread appears slightly damaged. I hadn't noticed upon first installment.
Will try and recut and get a new headset.

Headset replacement parts // Tange Seiki Falcon
hi, looking for spare parts for Tange Seiki Falcon250c 1" threaded headset in black.
Specifically a replacement 'adjusting cup' that sits below the washer and key nut.
Why I ask is because I had minor play start after it being fine since mounting in March.
Turns out the lower seal ring had worn, so I removed it.
Anyway, the real problem occurred when some minor thread damage on the fork tube I hadn't noticed started de-threading the adjusting cap, as it's fairly delicate alloy.
Fortunately I could get it off.
I've written the supplier, SJS, for their recommendation, but thought to ask here if there was someone who knew where to source or which other headset types have matching dimensions.
It would be good to not have to buy an entire new headset just to replace one bit.
Oh, and if anyone has a recommendation about how to best clean a thread on a steel fork tube, please leave a comment.
Sadly I'll be off the road until this is sorted out.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Show us photos of your inappropriate touring bike
I started with an 80’s racing frame (Poyner) done as a 2x7 ‘town-bike’. I didn’t like the bullhorn handlebars. Anyway, I’ve been gradually adjusting the bike component by component to touring, making changes after every outing, learning lessons, being hands-on. It’s been a learning process. Changes have been adding a rear-rack, callipers, handlebars, shifters, cog-set, rear and front mechs, wheels, tyres.
Currently in the process of getting a repaint and getting forks bossed to take pack cages and changing the headset and stem. An extra 10l up front mainly for foodstuffs and cooking items will hopefully balance the bike better.
