Re: Getting back from Paris
Paris to Dieppe. First you take a train “Intercity” Paris (Saint Lazare station) Rouen, where there are places for bikes without any reservation, them you change in Rouen station where you take a “TER” to Dieppe, where there are free places for bikes.

Re: Route planning app?
Geoportail is a good advice, you have also, http://www.openrunner.com/
Then choose IGN maps, draws your tour and then it gives you the total height of your tour.

Re: Brest to Presqu'ile de Crozon ferry, Brittany
To help you I’ve phoned « Le Brestoâ »…fortunately my French is not so bad. They accept bikes for 4 €, but if you are 12, they prefer to have a reservation to reserve the places for the bikes. Bernard

Re: French (FFCT) Cycling Licence medical requirement
Hello, I’m individual member of FFCT, (not in a club), but I confirm, the first time (first year) you are obliged to give ‘un certificat médical’ which say you have no contraindication to practise cyclotourisme.
I think 'stress test' equal 'test à l'effort'.
I’ve contacted the responsible of the licence (Ms L. Blondeau)
http://www.ffct.org/licence/img/affiliation_mi.pdf
who confirms ‘Le test à l’effort’ is not asked, it is only recommended, if you choose the must of the insurance ‘Grand braquet’.
See the different proposal.

Gare de Lyons/ Gare Montparnasse
Perhaps you can search your way on this :

Via Michelin says 5km, 20 minutes.

Re: Cycling into Paris.
I think, perhaps I’m the guy « Bernard ». Don’t hesitate to contact me, I’ve an itinerary from Dieppe (Pays de Bray) to Paris only on little roads, I avoid completely main road, because I consider it’s ‘suicidal’ to use the main road in France.

Re: french end to end
I think the furthest « Diagonale » in France is Brest – Menton 1350 km.
For more information have a look on (sorry the website is in French) “L’Amicale des Diagonalistes” a sort of Club of fan of diagonales.

Via Michelin says 22 minutes.
See the detail on the map.

If you can, avoid cycling 17h 18h, before 10h in the morning it’s the best.
