Re: Yamaha launch the Wabash gravel e-bike

Neither do I, perhaps us old school guys have it backwards, everything today has to look cool, whatever the hell that really means in a real world, maybe thats why a plain jane Rotrax Shirley was a much better riding machine than the vaunted Baines, Bates or Curly Hetchins, those which would have bee...

Re: Yamaha launch the Wabash gravel e-bike

When people who don't ride E machines or even if they have tried one and now feel experienced enough after a couple of miles to wax lyrical about the weight and visual aspects of said machine, I wonder at their comments.. Having built 7 midmotored bikes now and having first got the bug back in 2013,...

Re: My Lidl helmet - and fall

Re: My Lidl helmet - and fall

About 60 odd years ago when being instructed by my Father, I was taught to mount from the left side, left foot on left pedal ,run the bike forward and mount while moving throwing the right leg over the frame behind the saddle.. I probably did this for some years, he , my father was a strict teacher ...

Re: Wheel sizes vs Handling

Interesting contris, I some years ago transformed a Raleigh Twenty totally, drop bars, 406 wheels instead of 451, dual pivots, STi's and 7 sp rear gearing with double on the front, and it was as nice a ride as any of my lightweights at that time... and anyone who had a few miles on it was actually s...

Re: Newbie with a Vintage mtb

Chris de Kerf was a pioneer in wishbone stays in fact afaik it was his trademark.. he built in steel ,and he's in Canada, my brother over there brought me home one of his show pieces about 15 years ago.. I think Bespoked Cycles in Settle also toyed with wishbone stays, look nice but leave the rear v...

Re: Mudguard heating - deforming to fit

Looks to me that those guards are very wide, and that one is a rear modded to fit.. so the edges that pass under the fork yoke are actually catching the inner sides of the fork. i have dremelled a waist marking where the clearance is needed this should allow the guard more leeway to rise.. if not eno...

Re: Small windscreen idea

It doesn't, thats designed for wrapping around a quill, and the other is an ugly u bolted item which clamps over the stem and only suits a stem of maybe 90 /100 mm and with very little upward degree angle neither of which suit my position or machine.. so I have an fitting coming from Polisport in Po...
