Re: gps choices, can someone explain? please!
A smartphone with replaceable batteries is a rarity these days? I need to do some research. Android yes only basic ones, but a cheap Windows phone could be a good cheap gps device rather than as a smartphone ( though it will do the basic smartphone things and more, just not things like social media...

Re: Seat bolt identification
Thanks everyone.
It's on a Mercian Superlight I think it's a 1978 model.
I might ask Mercian what they used back then.
I couldn't believe that these were out in 1910.
I will go for the stainless version possibly from Clerkenwell Screws when I'm net in London.

Seat bolt identification
Hi,
I need a replacement seat bolt but it's from an older bike circa 1978 I think. I am hoping that someone knows the name of what I need as I am.unsure what to buy?

The Moulton New Series was launched in 1999 if my memory serves me.

Most new inventions are already in the Data Book first published in 1983.

Re: Dynahub lamp recommendations
This thread has a lot of great contributions and I'd like to thank everyone for sharing their experiences, thoughts and opinions. I think the one that seems to be slightly ahead for me at the moment is the Edelux II. I also am attracted to the no brainer at £68 as mentioned by Brucey. I'm a trendy c...

I didn't actually look very far I must admit. I saw that first deal and thought I'd try and research it but the other one that caught my eye was https://www.bike-discount.de/en/buy/busch-mueller-iq-x-t-senso-plus-led-headlight-silver-526396?currency=3&delivery_country=190&gclid=Cj0KCQjwqrb7B...

Re: Dynahub lamp recommendations
Thank you for this feedback and information. The bridge rectifier is a possible solution to keep what I have. I have zero experience in building anything electronic. I did buy a soldering iron but it was for a guitar out put jack and the problem disapeared as soon as the soldering iron was delivered...

Dynahub lamp recommendations
I have the Schmidt Original Nabendynamo hub. It was running two E6 lamps one was a slave they both worked with halogen bulbs about 6 years back I upgraded the bulbs to LED but the lamps just flickered the higher the speed the faster the flickering. I gave up. Now I want to get a lamp or set that wor...

Re: Triple to double - old-ish Shimano
Personally I would always opt for a triple if there's a choice. The gearing on a triple is much less compromised to my mind. I can't see any advantage myself to a compact drive over a triple. The triple for my money has the best of three worlds. The compact feels like a compromise of just two worlds...

Re: Torque wrench 6-30nm
It's just the wrench. If I want to use an Allen key set what should I look for? Are you still looking for advice on hex bits, or have you changed plans on the wrench? Jonathan Hi, Sorry for the late reply. I bought some thanks. I will get a dedicated bike torque wrench set for the lower end as sugg...
