Re: Points on driving license for cycling offence ?
No. He just took my details, checked them and then said I’d get a letter.Nearholmer wrote: ↑15 Jul 2023, 8:16am Were you issued with a ‘ticket’ on the ground?
(I don’t know whether you are supposed to be, just curious)

Re: Points on driving license for cycling offence ?
Oh and ‘on the ground’ it was a bit of a bizarre conversation. He stopped me for the red light jumping. We had a conversation and he took my details. Told me it would be a £50 through the post and no points on my license. Then he cautioned me then said I could go. Not sure why he did the caution right at the end or at all really.

On the letter it says ‘reported by police whilst using vehicle PEDAL CYLE for the alleged offence Drive on road other than motorway, fail to comply with red / green arrow lane closure light signals’Nearholmer wrote: ↑15 Jul 2023, 7:37am I doubt it, but I’m understanding that the offence committed while cycling would have to be quite enormous for a person to “lose their license” for it.
Now that I’ve got my head around what the law actually says, I’m itching to know exactly which offence the OP was charged with “on the ground”, and what charge the notice through the post mentions.

Re: Points on driving license for cycling offence ?
Thanks everyone. Yes I’ve done some more reading and from what I can see there is no provision in law for penalty points for cycling offences. I tried to query it with the met police but was told just to contest it in court. I will write to them to say I will be doing this… seems a bit ridiculous to go to court as it’s an administrative error but doesn’t look like there is any other way.

Points on driving license for cycling offence ?
I got caught cycling through a red light on my bike (left turn across an empty pedestrian crossing but fair enough I broke the law). The officer who stopped me said I would receive a £50 fine and no points on my license…I’ve now received a letter saying it’s £100 and 3 points on my license. Surely you can’t get points on your driving license for a cycling offence ? Can’t find definitive information on this though. Does anyone have any experience this?
