Is a Moulton a fair weather Bike.

I used mine today. It was fine when I started out, then of course it started to rain. I would not normally us it if it is going to rain, cleaning it would test the patience of a saint. All bikes are a pain to wash but the Moulton excels. So is the Moulton a fair weather bike.

Re: That damn disc brake squeal again

Would have used copperslip but I don’t have any, so used grease as a try. Better than nothing

Re: That damn disc brake squeal again

dobbo800 wrote Don't use grease on the back of brake pads to stop squealing. It's the wrong stuff entirely. 'Copperslip' is the way to go. I wrote. I even tried a tiny amount of grease on the back of the pads and I mean tiny, to see if that would work, desperate measures. It was part of the experime...

Re: That damn disc brake squeal again

I take it that you mean by braced, tied, or soldered crossings. If that is the case then no. spokes are 2mm plain gauge, two cross.

Re: That damn disc brake squeal again

Follow up, tried the organic pads today, guess what they didn’t work, the sound could have been even louder, but this could have been psychological, (ah he shivers in the corner in despair). So looked at it from another angle, “insert witticism here”. It was a sound that was increasing in loudness, ...

Re: That damn disc brake squeal again

thanks Buk.
I should have said before, that i have deglaised the rotors, all four of the ones that I have tried, also the pads to no avail.
I have three other bikes with discs on and not a murmer from them. its just this one that is causing the trouble.
I'm sure it will all work out in the end.

Re: That damn disc brake squeal again

Thanks Brucey. Some good ideas there for me look at. The chamfering the leading edge, forgot about that one have used it before on V brakes, very successfully. Tried the grease on the back of the pads, not copper-grease, but it was gust to find out if it would work. Have got some organic pads on ord...

Re: That damn disc brake squeal again

Thanks aquilo. I don’t even have to be going downhill for the damn things to squeal. Went back home myself this morning, it so annoyed me. Organic pads was the next thing I was going to try, and it’s good to know that it is something that could work for me. Landsurfer wrote. You have just bought int...

That damn disc brake squeal again

Yes I know this subject has been done before. Looking through all the last posts on disc brake squeal, I can find nothing that helps. Here is the bike and the brakes that are in question, and what I have tried so far Bike is an Airnimal joey, front forks are steel, and brakes are Avid bb7. What I ha...

Re: POETRY

Last year I was listening to the news. An article came on of a child being run down by a motorist breaking a red light. It brought me to tears to think of a poor innocent child (or anyone else) being needlessly run down. I sat down later that morning and wrote this down. I WAS ONLY A CHILD. I was on...

Re: lycra shorts and pads

Update. went out for a short ten mile ride this morning. No padded shorts on, instead I used boxer shorts under my longs. Yes I know cotton boxers are not the best, but it was to see how I would go without a pad. The results are, all OK. I know this is only a short ride and I will have to see how I ...

Re: lycra shorts and pads

Many thanks for all the reply’s. One of the pairs that I have tried where Polaris, old pad and the new pad same shorts different pads, I have always liked the Polaris, but with the new pad, as I said before they were painful. Chamois no don’t want to spend all that time looking after them. Have also...
