Re: York Rally 2018: 23-24th June

I think you need to be aware that Transpennine Express recent cycle policy revision will likely have a huge adverse effect on attendance at this event. They now only make 2 bike space available on each train and require reservations for bikes 24 hours in advance. Unfortunately, Cycling UK are doing...

Re: Recommend me some books.

Hi everyone - Before Christmas, I put together an article for the Cycling UK website here: https://www.cyclinguk.org/article/give-your-cyclist-book-christmas about books to give for presents for Christmas. They were all ones that had been reviewed for Cycling Magazine in the past year. Because it wa...

Re: What do you want for Christmas?

A copy of Mick F's autobiography! It would be a fascinating read. I wrote a booklet entitled "Cars I have Known" about all the cars we had as a child, and all the cars I've owned and driven as an adult. I also wrote another entitled "My Incredible Career" about my time in the Ro...

Hi - who is Mick F? This sounds like it could be something I would like to include in the article. Why would it be a fascinating read for you?

Thanks,

Nat

Re: What do you want for Christmas?

I'd like some secateurs that close up so they don't have any sharp edges exposed that will snag/damage panniers when carried. Anyone seen some? Old joke: I never knew secateurs were part of a cyclists' toolkit until I moved to Norfolk. http://shopping.rspb.org.uk/folding-pocket-secateurs.html - not...

As it's Christmas and you posted a reply, you can use them if you give credit, rather than my usual CC-By-SA terms. :) That's very kind, thank you very much! Your list is great - the dry bags sound so useful. Thanks also for the advice/reminder about the amount of variation currently available. I'l...

Re: What do you want for Christmas?

A 25 Kg sack of Organic Oat Groats. These I can mill, in my kitchen, to produce top-quality porridge. See numerous other porridge topics on this forum. PS. I am currently annoyed with my usual groat supplier, so no business with them for a few months. The standard supermarket stuff is pretty tastel...

What do you want for Christmas?

Hi everyone! I would love to know if there are any items you've found throughout your time as a cyclist that you'd buy over and over again - something you'd really appreciate as a Christmas present, or would definitely buy for another cyclist? Basically - what do you want for Christmas? Asking for a...

Re: Eurostar South of France Trains Bike Policy

Hi aooleary, CTC met with Eurostar yesterday, and during the general discussion raised your query. As you've already found it, they're not going to budge on this issue, but for what appear reasonable reasons. It's partially down to the length of the journey, which means they need to carry more food ...
