Re: commute Liverpool Loop Line

Hi Liz, I use the loopline regularly from Aintree to Halewood and back at varying times. There are a couple of things you need to be aware of (that you may have encountered on your recce). Firstly, (travelling from Aintree towards Broadgreen) the tunnel that goes beneath Walton Vale has recently been resurfaced, (improving it 100%) but the lighting can be a bit hit and miss. Not sure what is going on with the timer :D
As the line goes past BROADWAY shops, you can get gangs of youths hanging around (dependent on weather and time of day) but there can often be a lot of broken glass.
And lastly, the stretch between the old railway station and Alder Rd (at the back of Sandfield Park) can be pretty treacherous in the wet, doesn't seem to drain too well and the moss that thrives there can be slippy. Other than these issues, it is a brilliant traffic free route from north to south. Happy riding.

Re: Winter Commuting Poll

Re my earlier post. Apologies. I know monday was only YESTERDAY. Clearly too much daytime TV has addled my brain.

Re: Winter Commuting Poll

Having just ticked option two " take my chances on normal tyres", my luck ran out on monday morning (two days ago). Took a tumble when I lost the front wheel without warning.
My attempts to right myself and recover the bike probably looked quite comical.
I've only just recovered sufficient movement in my wrists to type!
Still bruised and battered but back on the mountainbike for my eight mile commute tomorrow. Think I'll be resting my beloved 73 Claud tThankfully saved serious damage by the bar tape and my trusty carradice saddlebag)until the clocks change back. :?

Had the very same problem the other week. (Almost) filled a mug with boiling water, dipped the silver (lens) end into the mug for thirty seconds, it expanded enough and unscrewed a treat. :o
