Re: Help with route from Ironbridge to Kendal

I've never let a web app autoroute for me since I discovered we might have different ideas of cycle friendly. You are spending 2 weeks riding this, be prepared to spend 30 mins routing each day. My first step was to decide where to stay. Starting in Ironbridge means you are looking at Warrington or ...

Re: Route complete - comments??

Nantwich - Orrell Your first query - Trans Pennine way is OK from Widnes. Care getting onto the bike path for Runcorn bridge. Getting off is odd as well because the "official" TPW route cuts through a small gap in the wall by a bus shelter. Not critcial if you miss it though, but the route...

Re: some more routes to perus - chepstow thru to whalley

Chester definitely more interesting than Northwich

If you want to make it more interesting then how about using the Mersey Ferry. Lot more fun than Runcorn bridge or Warrington

Re: LEJOG - best route planning software

As Ron says, everyone is different. For my part, I used several steps. 1: How far are you cycling each day. Then use basic routing on Google, or a road atlas to work out where that would get you to. 2: Having worked out your approximate stops, refine - places you want to stop, visit etc. Visits get ...

Re: LeJog July 2013

I'd recommend posting your route on here as day links. Plenty of local knowledge which you can then choose to take or ignore. People usually only too glad to help. I don't see the attraction of google maps myself - I would at the very least recommend importing your routes into BikeHike or BikeRouteT...

Re: 9 day route planned. Advice appreciated...

You've gone east of Wigan - I'd usually avoid it on the west side crossing the M6 near Orrel It's not a "glorious" ride here whichever way you go, but we head north (from Warrington) this way. Through Warrington you had a fair route. http://www.bikeroutetoaster.com/Course.aspx?course=34293...

Re: What do you think of our JoGLE route?

love the Ferry rather than the Runcorn/Widnes bridge, but I wouldn't use the Chester Road unless time is the essence. I only cycle the Wirral occaisionally, but drive it lots You are better using the west side of the Wirral - I'll do you a possible route when I get chance - NCN 56 is a starting point

Re: Tracking on iphone

I can confirm wordpress don't allow iframes on the free blog (wordpress.com), and you can't embed the maps directly, you have to link to them. I believe it is possible on hosted wordpress blogs, but that is beyond most E2E blogs. We used the link & it worked fine for us

Re: LEJOG Route - 1st Week

Day 6

Don't follow the A49 through Warrington, this cut through is much better

Re: Land's End to John O' Groats proposed route??

It's quite an effort to navigate to find your routes. Most people put a link to each days route, so it's "click to view", so the link for Tarporley to Southport is http://www.cyclestreets.net/journey/2349998/ Based on Tarporley - Southport I'm guessing you want to hit Liverpool - the more ...

Re: 2 June 2012 LeJoG 10 days Join me

Your route through the NW looks good but I would never cycle the Runcorn Expressway - far too many much better alternatives. It is ride able - it has a hard shoulder of sorts, but its a fast road with traffic merging and leaving at speed. Traffic rarely expects cyclists since there are so few on the...

Re: JOGLE: Proposed Route : Feedback Very Welcome

A49 is fine but not my route of choice through Wigan or Warrington. This is the way we usually head north, based on a couple of Warrington lads, and experience around Wigan - basically tracks the A49 south of Charnock Richard. http://bikeroutetoaster.com/Course.aspx?course=342932 day 7...when near t...

Re: Final Final Final route I think !

I've gone this way through Preston 4 times now. Just a slight difference. Never a problem, and a pub on the quay if you want it http://bikeroutetoaster.com/Course.aspx?course=383996 From Widnes - follow waterloo road and pick up the bus lane that goes to the bridge. Extensive roadworks on the Runcor...
