thanks for the reply Gattonero, i use the bike in all situations, road, trail, off road, i have found some (rear) full guards that will do the job , and using a tag a long it keeps the rear a little bit cleaner, not too bothered about the front as i can use a guard you have kindly posted,
many thanks

Re: Invalid scooter !!
We noticed two wheeled scooters in Spain on a recent trip, i dont think it will be too long before they are over here, and its quite a sight seeing them getting manouvered around, and there not a side by side arrangement, its the tandem type, just keep your distance !

The point at which I despair is when I offer to teach people how to do them themselves (in the course of charging a fiver to fix one) I and they look at me as if I'm mad.
I was in the lbs looking for a replacement saddle as mine broke after 1200 miles,( ok im not skinny) I was amazed when a cyclist brought his bike through for the chain lubing, and that WAS it. as i was there for the duration.
On the other side, im self tought reading posts on here and online videos, if i were busy and needed the bike doing i wouldnt hesitate in taking it to the lbs.

I would however have a problem when that celibration involves the whole front of someone's modest bungalow being transformed into a flashing, multicoloured tacky invasion of my privacy with Santa Claus' sleigh being dragged across their rooftop and 6ft tall dancing snowmen all lit up in their front garden.
to oblivion, eat until they burst or worship their perceived deity in the privacy of their own homes or places designed for the purpose.
The problems start when they assume everyone else is in the same frame of mind as them and when they find out they're not, castigate them for not being so.
I could'nt agree more with this one, our neighbours are the same, lit up like blackpool , i just had to plant a laurel hedge on the boundary, unfortunately for them it's now 7 ft high, and they don't like the fact people walking or driving up the road "can't get a proper view"
But its ok for our from room to be lit up with flashing lights all night...

Re: Cyclists are lazy
Cyclists are often seen as lazy, unhappy and social misfits, a study has found.
too right, when i've been on a long ride im cream crackered, a little miserable and tired depending and don't feel like going out.
Regular bike users think of themselves as adventurous and rebellious.
If sat nav was built into our bikes we wouldnt be getting lost , rebellious ooh not me...
But many people think they are lazier and more miserable than average.
errrrr miserable at reading all the **ap in the newspapers regarding cyclists
When i was a car user before i met my bike, i envied all the cyclists that passed me and the ones cycling around looking miserable and lazy, and now im one of them, looking at the happy car driver with all that enthusiasm going nowhere fast in our clogged cities.

Re: tandem or tag-along suitability for a blind 12-year-old
Hope this all goes well for you, i sold my tandem recently but now im thinking it was a big mistake, my son loved it one day, hated it the next, but the frame was too small for me, even though i got all the extensions you could think of.
Hence im looking for another tandem ,
Make sure if fits both of you, and your comfortable with the setup, your daughter will love it im sure, just like my son did, its not just riding a bike !!!
If you think its working out join the tandem club and take advantage of their family section.
Good Luck
Martin

Yep get that letter sent !!
I had a run in with an arriva driver whilst i was in town, so i swiftly got along to the bus station where the bus was going, and straight to the supers office, i explained what the driver had done, and he took me across the station like a bullied school kid " show me the driver and the bus " you could tell he was old school and wasn't going to take any crap , well did the driver get one b*****ng
Well done to the supervisor.

Nutsey wrote:steve64 wrote:Well I started cycling again back in March for the first time since I was a kid and so far have lost just over 3 stone in 3 months!
I cycle (road commute) each day between 10 - 30 miles, I dont have any fancy kit, bought my bike from Halfords and avoid any faddy diets. I just eat fairly sensible & drink loads of water.
My aim was not to loose so much weight but to get to work cheaper than it was costing. Weight loss came as a result.
Uncanny - Same as me (but double my commute length!)
1200 miles + 1 year = 0.00 loss in weight.
I'm still 15.8 3/4
I eat fish , steamed veg every day, drink water , plenty of fruit.
Help !!!

or as wikipedia says
It is now the largest town in Yorkshire and one of the largest towns in Britain without a railway station.

Never liked it, and i mean that, i would do detention at school rather than chasing a football, Never watched a game, never been to a game, i won't have it in the house in any way. it's getting commercialised just like Easter, went to Asda yesterday they have and isle dedicated to it with all the ***p they sell.
My wife thinks its wonderful, on the other hand she thinks she's paying the price for it, with all the bikes i've had and goodies i buy.

Re: Car slapping...
I came to a stop at a roundabout to give way, it was a T junction before, a car from behind came to the side of me and brushed my right foot with the bumper and wheel as i was sat with my right foot on the pedal waiting to push off,
I jumped off the bike placed the cycle in front of the car, and tapped on the window, elderley couple so i was respectful and asked if he could explain his driving, " i didn't see you" tut.tut........ i cycled off shaking my head in disgust.
Thoughts go through your mind and im really glad i left my 20 month old son at home that day and not taken him out in the trailer.
What about some glow sticks to lighten the bike up??
