Re: lejog advice please

Mick F states:
other end of Blackwater, you come to a roundabout at Three Burrows. Get on the A30. It’s single carriageway mainly and ok to cycle on. In the future, they are going to dual this stretch and I’m going to have to sort out a better cycling route!

You could turn off at Three Burrows onto the A3075 towards Newquay, but I think that’s taking you out of your way. Some folk have gone that way, then worked their way east back along the A392 through Quintrell Downs to pick up my described route.

Follow the A30 to Zelah - turn off the main road and go through the village Old A30 - and out again for a short time back on the A30 turning off left through St Newlyn East.

Cross the A3058 at Gummow’s Shop and cross the A392 at White Cross and go through St Columb Major.

I am plotting Mick F route from LE to St Columb Major. A couple of concerns - I have been told to avoid A30 as it is a very busy road. Is the A30 ok traffic wise between Penzance and Hayle ? Is the A30 ok traffic wise between Blackwater and St Columb Major ? Is there a hard shoulder ?

North East 250 Cycle route

Hi, just wondering if any of you have cycled the North East 250 route in Scotland. A circular route starting in Aberdeen, following the coast North then west, head south through the Grampians, then east through Deeside back to Aberdeen. Is the route suitable for a road bike and are the roads very busy with traffic. Any information or advise would be appreciated.

Re: Costa Teguise, Lanzarote

Yeah, I know of the Sports Complex but don’t want to stay there. The link to your B &B is no longer valid. Many thanks.

Costa Teguise, Lanzarote

Plan to visit Lanzarote next month, February 2020, left it a bit late but can get accommodation in Costa Teguise.
Is it a suitable location for road cycling, don't mind hills ?

Cycling from Dunning to Kinross - Path of Condie

Hi, I am leading a group of ladies from Dunning to Kinross and plan to follow back roads. Near Pathstruie where the road splits should I follow the Path of Condie through Stronachie or follow Tulloch Road to Middleton. I know the gradients for both routes are high, we will be on road bikes. Which way is the "easiest", which would you recommend ?

Cycling Kinross to St Andrews

Hi, planning to cycle the following route....from Kinross follow A911 round Loch Leven tp Wester Balgedie. Then take Dryside Road round wood to Strathmiglo, pick up A912 to Falkland. Then B936 through Freughie onto Kettlebridge. I then intend to take route via Ceres which i'm happy with. What I want to know, is Dryside Road to Kettlebridge suitable for road bikes, many thanks.

Re: Scotland north coast 500

I cycled the NC500 in August 2016 with a group of friends staying in B&B. We had a great time although the weather was horrendous. We found all the roads, including A roads very doable. The A9 coming south from JOG was fairly busy but had a small hard shoulder for most of the way. At no time did we feel uncomfortable due to the traffic. Just do it, you won't regret it, fabulous.

Re: Ireland E2E

Hi All, have now completed my Ireland E2E cycle trip and loved every minute. Favourite parts were Mizen Penisula, Gap of Dunloe, Cliffs of Moher and the Burren, Malin Welcome. Founds Priest's Leap a bit hard going, sorry for calling you a sadist Norman , you were a great help. Weather was mixed but nothing too outrageous so coped well. I found my worries about the N and R roads unfounded, usually a good wide hard shoulder. People were amazing, so friendly. Food and B&B excellent. Sorry my trip is finished. Here is my blog for anyone interested or just looking for help. https://irelande2e.blogspot.com

Re: Ireland E2E

Thank you Norman H. I have checked the ferry and unfortunately sailings start after I will be in the area. Hence looking at alternative routes.

Re: Ireland E2E

Hi, looking for more assistance. Plan to stay at Manorhamilton...should I continue through Ballyshannon, skirt Donegal and onwards to Letterkenny. Or should I head inland cycling towards Strabane. Then next day onwards to Malin Head.

Re: Ireland E2E

Thank you all. I have another question, is anyone familiar with the side road between Castlemaine and Tralee, west of the N70 ? Thinking of road surface and if it is a recommended short cut. Local information is just great !
