Torque wrench recommendation?

I'm looking at the usual suppliers for a decent quality torque wrench, ideally 3-6mm and Torx. Any recommendations/avoids would be appreciated.

Re: Dawes to stop making the Galaxy due to lack of demand...

Thats a nice bike I would keep it Yes, it's a keeper, but I always regret selling this - a rare Synthesis XT 653, which they can't have sold more than a handful of: bought from Harry Hall at a bargain price because it was the only one they had and couldn't even sell it at 50% a discount. Full XT gr...

Re: Dawes to stop making the Galaxy due to lack of demand...

I bought my 2016 Gran Tour 725 on a whim with some proper touring in mind, before my plans changed, and so it never got used as intended and I had planned to sell it, but it's now temporarily acting as my road bike over winter and so will be keeping it: great finish, rides nicely and the quality is...

Re: Dawes to stop making the Galaxy due to lack of demand...

It's a shame but I think we saw this coming. Dawes just seemed to buy in the lowest price parts and loosely configure a touring bike. When I saw they were doing them with aluminium frames I thought they'd lost the plot when it comes to their core appeal. No doubt to the accountants they saw that al...

Re: Dawes to stop making the Galaxy due to lack of demand...

If what they make sells and makes money, that's great for shareholders and for the customers who buy their products...I guess the point was that the shift in the perceived quality and range of their product left some of those previous and potential customers wanting, which I can kind of understand.

Re: 104 BCD 4 bolt 42t single ring recommendation

sometimes you just can't square the circle and get a decent sized chainring in the right place for a 1x setup. In such cases you can end up choosing between a bad chainline, fewer gears (shorter cassette at wider chainline) or more chainrings. If you want low Q also..... well I think it is going to...

Re: 104 BCD 4 bolt 42t single ring recommendation

unless 1x specific, modern derailleur chainrings have shortened teeth, gates, ramps etc which are specifically designed to help the chain shift, i.e. 'fall off'. If you use one such as a 1x then you should use a chain guide/FD to help keep the chain on. It can be acceptable to use a singlespeed cha...

104 BCD 4 bolt 42t single ring recommendation

I'm converting to 1x for winter and looking for a suitable 10 speed compatible, 104 BCD, 4 bolt, 42t single ring-specific to use in my Deore trekking 48-36-26 triple (middle ring position). Have looked at usual (Raceface, Wolftooth etc.) and there seems little suitable but wondering if a Stronglight...

Low Q factor chain set replacement suggestions

Any help on this would be appreciated. I have an as-new Dawes Gran Tour 725 26" tourer which I bought a few years back for some weekend touring but which laid unused after a long period working abroad. I had tried to sell it recently, rather than leave it unused but, after retiring my Ultegra-e...

Re: BMC GF02 chainstay crack?

Thanks for the responses - the bike was brought new abroad and frame is well out of warranty, and so it was really a call for any similar experience before getting the sand paper out..

BMC GF02 chainstay crack?

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated I noticed today what looks like a longitudinal crack in the l/h chain stay of my 2015 BMC GF02 disc, aluminium frame: surface is slightly ridged and self-evidently crack-like. 1000s of road miles covered but never absued/crashed. Just wondering whether it's ...
