Re: What will we be riding in 10/20 years?

Could it be the evolution of transport infrastructure, rather than cycle technology, that will have the bigger influence on what we’ll be riding in the future? More folders, maybe, if the cycle / public transport interface arrangements favour this. Or, more utility bikes if greater numbers are tempt...

Re: What midracer?

Just picking up some of the points from Squeaker and JohnBug: Clearly, load transfer is a factor but I’ve never thought it the complete answer. Throwing together a few representative numbers suggests on the Rapto (low) the front wheel probably unloads by around 10-15% when accelerating from standsti...

Re: What midracer?

FWIW I'm another Raptobike (Low racer) rider who also experiences wheel spin on loose or greasy surfaces although only when moving off from stationary; not whilst accelerating with the wheel rolling. It's my belief this is the result of small steering movements used to balance the bike which in rota...

Re: X-Seam measurement

As a W’cheetah (W’C) owner and regular, year-round cycle-commuter aspects of the above thread strike a chord. I thought I might therefore add a few notes. There are, probably, few compelling reasons to buy a W’C but plenty of good excuses. They’re elegant, technically interesting and, above all, goo...

Re: Trike tyres...

Continental Sport Contacts all round on my Windcheetah - Rear 32-559:Front 28-406 - fitted to Velocity Razor rims and running ~80psi and ~60psi at rear and front, respectively. When I first started using these they offered the best clearance between the front tyres and the hideously expensive carbon...

Re: mech hanger

The mech hanger alignment tool I have, and those I've used in the past, align the hanger to the plane of the wheel. They use the braking surface on the installed rim as the reference surface for the probe that projects from the rotatable, radial arm. Hence, their use on a 'bent should be no more nor...

Re: three offs today

It's often beguiling to think of trikes as the solution to safe cycling in icy conditions. I took to the Windcheetah before Christmas when black ice made a tumble from two wheels more likely. Six miles into my commuting ride I succeeded in "falling off" after a lurid slide and inversion. H...
