It's 4 miles inland from Amble, but on the decent side of that line
Thanks for the suggestion, as tempting as a warm bed might be I do like camping - if its hoying it down the warm bed might seem rather a good idea.
Sorry, my post probably wasn't clear. It is a campsite, merely linked directly to the Railway Inn :?
Thanks again.
I did after i replied have a look at the Railway Inn and did see it had camping and it is now on the list :)

Must be 23 years since I stopped in Amble on an Audax. The condition of the staff toilet we used in the cafe are still very vivid. :D
Walkmill is one that i'm looking at, good to hear about the charging points. The hostel, that'll depend upon the weather and if i wimp out, nice to know its there and an option.
Hopefully the toilet has been cleaned since then
thanks

Ebikepacking Coast and Castles (Edinburgh to Newcastle)

Ebikepacking Coast and Castles (Edinburgh to Newcastle (will actually be finishing at Sunderland)), has anyone done it ?
(not sure if i should post this in this section or 'Electric pedal cycles')
I originally wanted to do an Edinburgh to Newcastle coastal route rather than go inland but a search of campsites wasn't promising seemed to be mainly (if at all) expensive caravan parks).
So, back to the inland bit.
It looks like theres a campsite about every 50 mile (which is ok for my ebike).
A first one at Melrose I know is ok as they replied to an email saying yes i can camp and recharge my battery.
A second at Berwick hasn't responded, hopefully will also be ok for camping and recharging.
Sill need another campsite at or just past Amble.
If anyone has ebiked and camped this route I'd be grateful for details of where you stayed (good/bad) and if you had any trouble getting recharged

Re: LEJOG on ebike

An interesting thread/topic.
Joined and started posting 2009, that was the year I cycled camped JOGLE, I last posted on this forum in 2011 (seems longer). 2010 was the year m.e/cfs put a stop to cycling, mountain walking and everything else except short walks and a spot of gardening, also eventually stopped me from frequenting this forum, seemed pointless.
Really glad I did JOGLE that year, had been a long term ambition and got it done just in time.

However I digress before I've even started.
So I'm just about to buy myself an ebike which got me to reading this cycling forum again and as I've done JOGLE once this particular thread is of interest. I wont be doing JOGLE again unless a miracle happens, but do think about doing it occasionally.
At the moment my aim is to rather like Bilbo get out there and back again, how far is yet to be seen but with luck I'm out on a bike again, you have no idea how much I've missed it.
Ps if you see a bloke sprawled across a bench and clinging on to his ebike dont worry its only me having a rest.

Re: bicycle-diaries

the various riot threads i presume - I'll drop in for the occasional read, but its a bit like watching a dog chase its own tail, becomes tedious quite quickly
interesting how multicultural the bike is, and how varied are its users for the rioter its an exultant way of moving stolen stuff from a to b

Re: HTML or Application

Must admit i haven't really given much thought to the online option, mainly because of bandwidth issues, i wanted to keep the images full size and top quality, though i suppose it was vaguely on my mind that any online service might just disappear. And the total upload allowed might be a problem $25 would buy quite a few dvd's And there's the text bit as well, must have a good text option.
Having said that putting what i want on dvd isn't going to be strait forward, looks like building a website with a gallery using tags to go on a dvd will require php/sql which can be done but its all getting a little complex. I'll explore this one a bit more.
but you've got me interested in the online option - a little bit anyway.

Re: HTML or Application

Hi and thanks for the replys

Been searching hi & low for an easy way to implement this, and up to now not found a good way, i have decided that distribution by DVD is the way to go, which rules out "Menalto" thanks for the pointer regardless 700c. I already use something similar Jalbum but don't think it does tags, but I've, got feelers out to see if any of the skins do support tags.
At the moment I'm looking at Jquery gallery's, i know some of them support tags but am not sure if they also support a text field. And I'm rather hoping that i don't have to get involved with a database.
If anyone has thoughts on this don't be shy :)

HTML or Application

I know some of you people are quite tech savy and might have an idea or two

I'm a member of a walking club and look after the club website, at the moment I'm looking at implementing a history page, which isn't a problem its going to be concise(ish) with a few photos.

But it got me thinking about doing a fuller version, that would be capable of showing photos and relevant text in a variety of fashions, scrolling maybe or by tags such as year, location, user, season etc.
I could do it in html with all the files & structure stored on a DVD for distribution but was wondering if there's a better way than using html, an application maybe

Has anyone done anything like this or have suggestion, given that any application used would have to be free and future proof

Any ideas people

Re: C2C accommodation

for Keswick you could try http://www.vividevents.co.uk/ its a hostel, fairly basic, cheaper during the week than weekends
they don't actually do 'family rooms' but they do have different bed number rooms
weekends can get a bit full and sometimes noisy especially during summer
best to avoid weekends if possible

Re: new c2c and other northern cycle routes forum

Shame the forum disappeared I'll look out for the new one

If your using Phpbb for your forum and the spam is being posted by bots (which have to create an account first) then adding a extra field to the reg proses will stop them, something like 3+5= is all it takes, it's easy to set up
But if its actual people doing the spamming ?? think you can set it so a users first post has to be ok'd by a moderator
