Re: Brizzle

Ok, I'll try that next time. Yes, passed by the fishponds but what amazed us both was the wonderful old manor building further on. It seems an architectural masterpiece and looked like it is just a private residence. Would love to have a good look around that. We did though, manage to visit Red Lodg...

Re: Brizzle

Hi guys, just returned from our little trip and succeeded in not getting lost this time. The first day we ignored Avon Crescent to get out on the riverside path out to Pill. We turned left down the metro lane, which says buses only, so hopped on the path and reached the bridge Ok and crossed over to...

Re: Englishman, Irishman and a Scotsman...

Given the location of this post, I assume there must be a different specification for English, Irish and Scottish mint imperials.

Personally, I'm not that bothered about size, it's more down to quality and I favour Mr. Dobson's (though I don't know what happened to Mr.Barker :? ).

Re: We're getting a puppy

This was Rascal. The most perfect dog in the world. He died 12years ago and it's been hard even considering a replacement. It's taken all of those 12years to take the step. (that's my arm round him up on one of the tors on Dartmoor) Rascal.jpg New puppy's name? Clue was Jack. Answer? Sailor! :D Giv...

Re: Brizzle

Thanks for the replies folks. I'm sure they were still setting up the contraflow last time we were there, so that should suit us fine. I'm not sure though, if we'll be booing and gooing  but we usually have a ride through Ashton Court and over to Clifton Downs, so will keep our eyes peeled for...

Off to Baltic Wharf Caravan & Motorhome Club site next week and hope to cycle out to Blaise Castle Estate again. Last time we did it, I seem to remember they were making Avon Crescent one way, so we headed further west towards Brunel Way, but roadworks there caused confusion and we ended up gett...

Re: "Rude villages/towns/roads youhave cycled through

I love the Shropshire village of Knockin.
It's village store seems proud of its sign.
Mind you, Mrs.Copy didn't really want her photo taken outside.

Re: Dandelions, thistles and moss

Our front lawn is currently bright yellow, as it's been invaded by Celandine. I don't mind it there actually but can't stand the stuff generally as it spreads everywhere and looks worst of all on the driveway (chippings) for some reason. The back lawn is currently a mass of moss due to all the lovel...

I trust that any new miners would have modern breathing apparatus to prevent all the nasty diseases that riddled the old ones. :?

Re: Local accents - what be yourn?

Mine's still broad Cheshire. Don't know if it ever stopped me from getting on, though I never really got anywhere  If I ever had my time over again, I would love to study accents or dialects at Uni. I'm fascinated by accents and whenever I meet someone new I always try and guess where they're f...

Plant a hedge; much more environmentally friendly and a lot nicer to look at.
