Re: Lost members?

Maybe automated spammer accounts being zapped? I'm not sure that new joiners who haven't had their first post approved show on the members' list. There's a steady stream of spammers. I myself disapprove a couple or three a day. Yesterday there was someone wanting to sell Nike stuff, and the other d...

Re: Booze - minimum price?

Minimum pricing is coming to Wales in March 2020 too.
Won't bother me, with my average beer intake of 1 pint per month.

Re: Libraries, public, renaissance of: DDC 020.336

I lived in the library as a kid and still use it every week I could never have had the money to purchase all those books as a child. Why should that wonderful knowledge or the joy of reading only be available to those with the ability to pay? Because that's the way of the new capitalism, you are wha...

Re: Ear syringe

Do you use the threaded nipple end to screw it in or twiddle it round with the hooked end?

Re: Libraries, public, renaissance of: DDC 020.336

I have to say that I love our new library and I can even manage to check my books out and back in again without any assistance.
On the way there last week, I had to give way to the new mobile library van going out on its rounds, so all looking hunky dory here in Pembrokeshire.

Re: Found - Twenty Quid

Years ago before coming back to Wales, to live and bask forever in baradws (Snowdonia), whilst staying at what was then a ‘funky’ pre refurb Bryn Tyrch Inn in Capel Curig for a couple of nights midweek. I’d been out walking with a new exciting beautiful girlfriend up Moel Siabod on a really grand l...

Re: Ear syringe

My wife suffers from m unfortunate combination of excessive was production and narrow ear orifices. Consequently it is difficult for the normal self cleaning of the ear to take place. She has had her ears washed out every year for many years. Suddenly the NHS will no longer do this. The doctor agre...

Hi Mick, I'm just delighted you had a splendid day.
It's wonderful to see people totally enjoying something that's been part of their life for so many years and I'm glad someone thought enough of you to invite you to a memorable occasion.

Re: SS HD for Mac time machine back-up

Hi again folks, I've spotted this, that seems set up for what I want. My only query is from the specification section, where it says that the cable is compatible with USB2. I just want to confirm that the device will work with my old Mac, if somewhat slowly. https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/comp...

Good value and reliable.

Re: SS HD for Mac time machine back-up

is it a usb connection you are using as I thought Mac had its own preferred connection method as you mentioned Thunderstorm or firewire etc. I doubt you can get cheap external drives that will plug into those connections. So you need to confirm what interface the dead drive is using first. If the d...

Re: SS HD for Mac time machine back-up

The back-up (plug in) HD has been connected since I got the Mac (used - almost 3 years ago) and has been connected permanently in Time Machine format. I've tried "repairing" it using the Mac's disk utility but it won't repair. It's only a 320Gb drive and had almost 100 Gb available when it...
