Re: Cycling after Prostatectomy or brachytherapy

Having now discussed the options with a variety of doctors (My daughter is one thus I know several), I'm now leaning towards brachytherapy and will make a final decision after mulling it over until Monday.

Has anyone on the forum had brachytherapy and can relate their experiences?

Cycling after Prostatectomy or brachytherapy

After 16 months of a variety of tests including a clear MRI scan a year ago, I've finally been diagnosed with Stage 1 prostate cancer and need to have either a radical Prostatectomy (done robotically) or Brachytherapy which is radioactive pellets implanted in to the prostate to destroy the cancer ce...

Re: Memories of the Dawes Galaxy

Further to my post above, I sold the refurbished Galaxy that had cost me £270.00 to buy and refurbish for £300.00, on ebay a year later. The reason I did so was that I saw an ad for an immaculate 2002 model in the CTC magazine. The ad was 5 weeks old when I rang about the bike and I was gobsmacked t...

Re: Memories of the Dawes Galaxy

My first Galaxy circa 2008/9 was when I realised my immaculate 1987 Raleigh Granada was no longer an economically upgradeable proposition. The 23.5" frame was 2" too big for me and it lacked sufficient braze ons et al. I found a very filthy 20.5" Galaxy of a similar vintage on ebay, c...

Rude Taurus 19 Tubeless

Hi, I have a Raleigh Motus Grand Tour 2018 model with 700 Ryde Taurus 19 rims. I want to convert these to Tubeless if I can. I’m running Schwalbe Marsathon plus Tyres (ebike ready 2018) and the Schwalbe website says they are tubeless compatible. The rims are Ryde Taurus 19 and I can find nothing on ...

Re: Zoom Suspension Seat post

Well, stalk ebay as I might, no Thudbuster ST's in the correct diameter appeared on ebay, so after a couple of weeks of looking and a good months income (I'm self employed), I bit the bullet and bought one new. The verdict: It didn't appear any better than the Zoom pogo stick at first but then I sus...

Re: Zoom Suspension Seat post

Thanks for the responses. I was very tempted by the Suntour NCX until I saw a review that showed that when installed with a Brooks B17, the saddle rails foul the parallelogram assembly and grind alloy off it. since I ride a B17, it’s put me off that one. I think therefore that I will go with a Thudb...

Re: Zoom Suspension Seat post

Having researched this subject extensively I’ve concluded that the Thudbuster is probably the optimum choice. They are around £180 for a long travel or £150 for the short version, however absolutely mint, boxed examples appear to be around £80 on eBay so that is my preferred route as I can resell at...

Re: Zoom Suspension Seat post

Thank you for responding. I'm loathe to buy an imitation of a classic as it were but also mindful that they are often just as good as the original! I've decided to watch a load of you tube vids extolling the virtues of the available possibilities and take it from there, however ........................

Re: Zoom Suspension Seat post

Thanks for the response. After a lot of fettling and lots of lube, mine does actually move now so I suspect my problem was the opposite of yours to some degree. My problem was and still is, do the more complex designs that cost lots more money work more efficiently than what amounts to an inverted p...

Zoom Suspension Seat post

I have a Raleigh Motus Grand Tour ebike fitted with one of these. The bike which was very badly assembled when I bought it new two years ago came with no instructions as to the set up or maintenance of this component and I had to work it out for myself. It was solid as a rock at purchase and to be q...

Re: Replacement for Bosch Powerpack battery

It's looking like I'll have to shell out for a new battery then, or buy a second hand one from a reliable source. Since the bike is relatively new, in mint condition, a top end spec and is now tweaked and adjusted to my liking I shall probably go down the new route, I can pick up a 500W one for arou...
