The Gorges de la Bourne is beautiful and the Vercors is a great place for outdoor sports enthousiasts. I've done a stack of rockclimbing, skiing and caving in the region - I lived in Villard de Lans for a year, quite some time ago now. It's a small town on the plateau at the top of the gorge. I'm sure there will be accomodation there too. It was a very quiet place when I was there but maybe it has more to offer now. I'm sure the place in the Gorge will be great too.
