Re: Posterior Vitreous Detachment, (PVD)

I had this in one eye two years ago, and then the other eye a few weeks ago after a major car accident and my head jolted forwards; the effect in both eyes is as Colin describes above, a real nuisance, with both eyes going in and out of focus all the time. In the first occurrence the brain didn't ov...

Astonishing bike design - from 1888

Dominic Winters, Auctioneers are showing this bike, a Linley & Biggs 'Whippet' sprung-frame bike from c1888, unbelievable (and a lot of other stuff including CTC historical material), auction May 18th. Estimate is a mere £22 – 27,000 https://www.dominicwinter.co.uk/sale/-col18a/lot-541

Re: Car Parking Ardrossan

It's very good for leaving your car while cycle touring, lots of space and not expensive. Best ring up Calmac for specific time details.

Re: Age of an Ellis Briggs frame

I had exactly the same experience as David F, and am curious but not desperate to know my Favori's age. Turns out (see other thread) to have someone's postcode on it too.

Re: Ellis Briggs frame numbering

Me too - sorry to jump onto your thread here but my numbers baffle me. These are on a Favori with playing-card lugs in the inner fork, 6 speed

Any answer to the first might also answer me: thank you!

Re: Schwalbe spiked tyres.

I did mine at full pressure, about 80 psi, and have barely lost a stud over several winters. They are brilliant.

Re: GPS computer vs dedicated phone?

If you're colourblind, following the Etrex coloured line is very hard, whichever colour you choose, and worse in sunlight and using sunglasses.

Re: What premium to support LBS?

I'm sorry to read most of the above. Most cyclists can't change a bottom bracket, or fit new cables. I value my LBS enough to put what work I can their way, in the hope that they'll be there to sort out a problem quickly when it arises unexpectedly at the wrong time. Flinders (above) says everything...

Last May, 67 or so miles from Iona round the west coast of Mull to Tobermory, utterly lovely weather and stunning scenery which changes frequently, golden eagles above.

Re: V brake pad holder spare nuts

The trouble is, I have them on four bikes, and all are rusty and all could really be replaced. 8 x £20 is too much for 16 nuts!
