Re: Brooks Cambium

These are my favourite saddles. I loved the b17s but these are fantastic off road and will take a soaking. They also don't hold water that soaks up into your shorts. Mine have held up perfectly, lots of miles and lots of abuse. The worst marks are from turning the bike upside down fixing punctures, ...

Re: Pictures of your bike(s)

Thought I'd update my fleet, they're all different from the last time I posted. In fact it's just changed again, the mukluk has not long sold and there's a Kona on towing duties. https://farm1.staticflickr.com/262/20367563025_f58e1efdcd_z.jpg https://farm1.staticflickr.com/327/19238809181_d2f69647f6...

Re: rear light for carradice saddlebag

The lights on my barley are perfect when its on the bagman. If it goes onto a bike without the bagman and droops down, I hook the lights over the metal D loops to put them in a good visible position for approaching traffic.

Re: How do you tell if a fork is carbon?

That's them :D Exotic have started doing a monocoque ud carbon fork, they look like they're painted in matt black. The crown, legs and dropouts are all smooth like road forks. Not like mine with the alloy dropouts etc. I've not seen them in the flesh so can't say what finish is on them, look matt. I...

Re: How do you tell if a fork is carbon?

The exotic udi fork legs are raw carbon finish with a clear coat. They aren't painted. The monocoque udi version may be painted but they have a different look to them than the alloy/carbon forks. The finish on them is very similar to a fishing pole not like a weave mat finish. Only the metalwork is ...

Re: How do you tell if a fork is carbon?

The alloy version I've seen were Matt black. The carbon either have a weave or a smooth uni directional finish, which I have on the cube. The carbon versions are easily distinguishable from the alloy.

Re: Bar Ends Cable routing

I had mine under about 4 wraps of the tape. I then changed to completely under and out with the brake outers, approx. 3 inches from the stem centre. They shift perfectly and are indexed 10 speed on pretty tight midge bar bends.

Re: Strengthening Panniers

As mentioned above, your best option is the fluted plastic sheet.

It comes in colours too, if you're a colour matching tart. Go to your local plastic supplier or sign shop and ask for corex sheet or twin flute sheet. An 8ft x 4ft sheet in 4mm is approx. £10!

Re: How limiting is a rigid bike?

My rigid cube doesn't limit me at all.

Here it is in mtb form after a climb up and back from Glen Etive, it's currently running midge bars with ice tyres and mudguards!
