Re: Road riding in Czech
I cycled right across the Czech Republic in 2011. I remember friendly people, cheap and tasty food and just one hellishly busy road. But the main memory was roads that crossed rather than hugged the contours. If there was a valley you had to go up and down it. Maybe it was just my route (in from Dre...

Re: Unique Cycling Tour...Riders Wanted
Yes, sorry, I should have done this a couple of years ago. I'd originally planned 100 days for the ride, thinking that we'd need to go gently because of lack of calories. As it turned out we completed the 3,359 mile ride in 66 days with a budget of £66 each (not counting the ferry). One of us had to...

Re: Campsite fees
The smaller Camping & Caravanning Club sites seem almost all to be members only, at least in theory. I did dozens of Camping & Caravanning Club sites last year. The first one I stayed at asked me if I was a member and then told me that, as a backpacker/cyclist, there wasn't any point in joi...

Re: Campsite fees
As RickH said The Camping & Caravanning Club sites do a "backpacker" rate. Last year this could be between £5 and £9. However, don't confuse them with The Caravan Club, who often want an organ as well as an arm and a leg.

Re: Slovenia
+1 for Lake Bohinj. I haven't cycled there - just a bit of walking - but it's lovely. Slovenia is a great place to cycle, like a mini-Austria but with a more difficult language. The Julian Alps are some of the most beautiful mountains anywhere. I cycled Slovenia for a few days back in September 2012...

Re: Route Britannia by Steven Primrose-Smith
Thanks for the mention. If you want Route Britannia for less than the cost of a pie, it's available this week only for just 99p on Amazon.
In other news, I have an embryonic idea. Anyone done any biking/packrafting?

Route Britannia
I'm excited to be setting off on my next ride, a 5-month, route-less tour of the whole of mainland Britain, through every one of the 97 counties, starting this Monday (11th). The route will be determined by the suggestions I receive from people I meet on the road, as well as suggestions from Faceboo...

Re: Romania
I'd like to do the Eurovelo 6 from Nantes to the Constanta but I'm concerned about cycling safely in Romania. I've assumed that even though some parts to the west of Romania are shown as 'not realised' , cycling in these parts will be safe. My perception of routes 'not realised' in Romania is that ...

Re: £1 a day tour completed
Yep, I'm going to do a month in Catalonia/Pyrenees in May/June, then not sure, might do something in Scotland if they get a summer this year! Good luck with Morocco, haven't been there for a long time so don't know what the situation is like there now. I saw a blog on CGOAB about a woman who got ro...

Re: £1 a day tour completed
I hate to be one of those naye sayers but check out CGOAB before you go to Morocco as someone has written about problems travelling through there recently. As for your book it sounds interesting so its on my Christmas present list. We went to Gibraltar this year but by plane as its far easier. Chee...

Re: £1 a day tour completed
What ventures have you got planned for next year? As it stands, I'm planning to go to Morocco for about 10 weeks in spring to see what it's like before it inevitably falls to ISIS. Then a grand tour of Britain for what would normally be the summer months in any other country. But we'll have to see....

Re: £1 a day tour completed
The ONLY thing I'm not happy about is not being able to join you guys on the ride. It's my life ambition to sun bleach my eyebrows! [emoji6] My weirdly blonde eyebrows weren't caused by excessive European sun. They're brown again now, but I'm riding around Britain this summer and I bet they g...
