Re: YHA "post Covid"

Follow on from previous post , seems strange the i can book a midweek stay in august or just about any day in september for £15 per night but then goes up to £19 per night for October , seems a strange pricing strategy .

Re: YHA "post Covid"

Hi , The minimum price of £29 for a night in the hostel seems to be for a bed /room , alright if there are 2 of you ,it works out ok. Had a look at hostels that had camping available on site , many of these are not now available as hostel has gone over to "exclusive hire" only. Many sites ...

Re: Skewers

Hi, if you enlarge the picture you can clearly see that it comes with solid axles and nuts , I would of thought there are two options , either convert the hub to a skewer and QR or manage to get adaptors to go on the end of the solid axles . nomisp

Re: Brompton folding pedal

No threadlock or any grease used on the threads at all . I did send a query to Brompton about the problem and they did reply with some good advice but no mention of the need to unscrew it anticlockwise . Nomisp

Re: Brompton folding pedal

Hi. thanks for all the above advice . The pedal is finally off !!! In the end I lay the bike on "workmate " table with the crank being gripped in the jaws , I then used a 2' breaker bar with a 1/2" socket with a 6mm Hex key try to undo the pedal bolt. I am sure the youtube videos I wa...

Brompton folding pedal

Hi. having problems removing left hand folding pedal from 2014 Brompton, it is just not moving . Could it have been factory assembled using a thread lock liquid ? I have a replacement pedal to fit on it and using that mounting bolt tells me to undo it you unscrew it clock wise. Would it be a good id...

Re: Securing stuff to rack top?

I have used a " Delta cargo net " to secure items to a rack top . These are made of elasticated cord with four plastic hooks at the corners , works better if items are secured in a bag but will hold extra pieces of clothing or gloves with no problems , also very useful for holding extra it...

Re: Bus Touring using a Freedom Bus Pass

Hi, I have done a few tours now using a Brompton and my bus pass , last year cycled and bused from Carlilse to Hertfordshire , very good way to see the country and to be able to join very good cycle areas or routes and then miss out on the more built up areas I dislike touring in rain so it was good...

Re: UK camping without a reservation

Hi, back with C & C club , last year while cycling North Norfolk cycle route stopped at Sandringham and West Runton sites during school holidays. I think I paid £7.50 at both sites Sandringham seems to have an area set aside for small tents for cyclists / backpackers and motorcyclists near the s...

Re: UK camping without a reservation

Hi, In relation to Camping and Caravan club sites , I have stayed at probably 8 or 10 and have always paid about £7 to £8 per night as a cycle tourist. I have been asked initially to pay sums up to £20 for a small tent on some sites but after explaining to the member of staff that there is a button ...

Re: Seat Reservations with Cycle spaces

Hi, I have been on a number of Virgin services and quite often they have 2 or 4 seats reserved for cyclists at the end of the train where your cycle is stored . I usually sit in them because it gives me peace of mind over the security of my bike even though I have reserved seat elsewhere on the trai...
