Re: Drivers just don't notice the road surface...
you can't expect them to notice the road surface, when a lot of them don't even notice a cyclist when it's right in front of them

Re: 100 mile in a day - Norwich?
for some lovely flat cycling country ... what about the Norwich 100 charity ride ? http://www.bike-events.com/CalendarEntry.aspx?id=253
I've done it twice with the organised ride in one day, and again on my own over several days (with B&B overnight).

Re: anyone used the cycle claim solisitors? Which one?
I too contacted RJW when I was knocked off ...I wasn't overly impressed with them...They were again less than impressive when I needed them on an employment law matter. This is why I went with my gut instinct. Some people say RJW are brilliant, and you say they are shoddy. I have just now contacted...

Re: anyone used the cycle claim solisitors? Which one?
I tried it thru Small Claims twice, and had got nowhere after 9 months in each case. Care to elaborate? I was run over half way round a large roundabout ... driver said I had just pulled out in front of him (not true). Bike was written off, I had a scalp lacertion and cauliflower ear. I was also yo...

Re: hit by car - he "didn't see" me
See a Solicitor AND A DOCTOR. GET YOUR INJURIES RECORDED. I am using a solicitor, and I was treated by paramedics in the ambulance at the scene. They made notes, and I have a copy. I also have photos. I will go to my GP next week if my neck is still playing up. I have started a diary (I know this w...

Cycle lane signs are wrong way round!
I've mentioned this before, but worked out how to do the photos now! I reported it to my council via the brilliant Communityfix website: http://www.communityfix.co.uk/index.php?id=6304&x=1.724443&y=52.558689 there are several cycle signs in my town that are wrong ... was someone having a lau...

Re: POTHOLES! The state of our roads!!!
Sorry if this has already been mentioned (I'm not a frequent poster), but this service is fantastic. I've used it for potholes and for fly tipping, and both have been sorted within days.

Re: Hi-Viz vests
Just my twopennorth .... in all but one of my (about 6) crashes, the driver has admitted seeing me (I don't wear Hi Viz). This week I had a crash, I was wearing a cycle jkt with bright yellow strips on it, but I could have had a flashing Xmas tree on my head and the driver still wouldn't have clocke...

Re: anyone used the cycle claim solisitors? Which one?
Yes, I now realise they are insurers. The solicitor I have is from Specter Partnership Solicitors. Knowing nothing good about solicitors (!) I picked the one who impressed me most with their knowledge of cycling incidents. She can only do better than I would on my own. I tried it thru Small Claims t...

an update
Thanks guys, for the support and stupendous advice. Here's an update: - I contacted a cycle-injuries specialist (thru Lawshield) - She is supremely confident of getting me money for my injuries, but not much for my bike (they only pay for a 13 year old bike, not to replace it with a new one. Therefo...

I am using http://lawshieldcorporate.com/accident
It's early days, but their professional and competent manner has impressed me (so far).
I used to be a CTC member back in the day, but found them of no help at all in previous crashes (sorry, folks, that was my experience).

Re: Driving, with oncoming cyclist about to be overtaken
In pulling over, am I encouraging a dangerous situation? The opposite approach, pulling out in an attempt to discourage overtaking seems likely to lead to a game of chicken with potentially multiple losers. What do you recommend? Speaking as a cyclist, yes you are encouraging dangerous overtaking. ...
