Does anyone have any experience/advice regarding getting out to Chile from the UK with luggage and a bike to ride the Carretera Austral?

Re: Helmets in Spain

This is a comment not a judgement as I do believe people should have a choice on whether to wear a helmet or not however I have to speak up for wearing helmets because of personal experience. My helmet has prevented me having serious head injury on two occasions and almost certainly saved my life on...

Re: Shetland, must ride roads

Some of the path from the car park at Hermaness has been maintained by using wooden walkways, I assume this is whats meant by 'the boards'. The path takes you to the most northerly accessible point of the UK and it is well worth the trouble. From there you can see Muckle Flugga and the Out Stack bey...

Re: Via de la Plata-How long to cycle?

As an update and an answer to my original question I took 15 days to get from Seville to Santiago. I used the guide 'La Via de la Plata by Mardones, datchary and Bernard. As hinted at in the other posts some of the Camino was very tough going particularly when the weather turned nasty for a few days...

Re: Bike friendly Accommodation in Malaga

Thanks for the recommendation but yes I have already found somewhere. The Hotel Goartin (close to the bus/train station) are happy to store my bike case for the week.

Re: Via de la Plata-How long to cycle?

Thank you all for the really helpful info. The website suggested by ChrisF will be very useful for the route as long as I turn left at Leon! I will be using an 'adventure'/ 'gravel' bike which nips along nicely on the road in addition to tackling tracks well so it's good to have the options. And the...

Via de la Plata-How long to cycle?

I think I read somewhere that 3 weeks is a suitable time to allow for cycling the Via de la Plata from Seville to Santiago de Compostella. Can anyone advise on this and whether it could be done comfortably in less? I only have 16days at the beginning of April.

Re: Bike friendly Accommodation in Malaga

Thanks, that's incredibly kind and helpful and I appreciate your response however it's unfortunately the wrong side of Malaga for this trip as I will be heading to Seville.
Cheers

Bike friendly Accommodation in Malaga

I’m looking for a place to stay in Malaga for the first and last night of a 10 day tour that will store my bike case for me in between. I usually find somewhere eventually by emailing and phoning around but thought a recommendation might save me a lot of hassle.
Can anyone help?

Re: St Jean-Pied-de-Port to Pamplona

That's reassuring, thank you. Why do you recommend the Col d'ispeguy more? I did see that on the map and as I had read several comments about traffic over the Col de Roncevaux was wondering if there was a quieter way.

Santander- Storing a bike box for a week

Can anyone suggest a solution for storing my bike box whilst I tour the Picos for a week. Maybe a cycle friendly hotel, b&b or hostel within reasonable distance from Santander airport for first and last night stay? Or if I went with a disposable box then a bike shop that would supply me with a n...
