Re: Ian Hibell Into Remote Places SOLD

I've the same copy. One of only a handful of books I've read twice. On the road and cider with Rosie are the other two. This is a great read - made me jealous really.

Teasi One

Following on from another thread - I was wondering who has one of these and what they think of it. I'm a little confused as to whether they come with UK maps. Plus, if not is it free and easy to download some? I am an Ordnance Survey subscriber - could I put OS maps on? Any knowledge gratefully rece...

Lezyne GPS

People, I have a five year old Lezyne Mini and it has developed a problem. When I connect to the computer via the usb cable - it will charge but not 'connect'. Thus meaning I cannot upload or download. It does not detect per se. I have tried different cables and computers but no joy. Is it a case of...

Re: How Old is Your Trangia ..

I've a mini trangia. Got from White & Bishop in Northampton in 1988 I reckon. Problem with the mini is you don't get wind protection for the burner, but you can improvise. My brother had a Coleman 442 burner, so when together tended to use that with the trangia pans.

Wheelset experience

People, I'm looking at getting a new pair of wheels for my road bike which I ride down the lanes of Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Shropshire. Now some of these are really poorly surfaced and I do want some strength. Spa are selling these...... has anyone any experience of these? Novatec and Kinl...

Thanks for that. However the thread is stripped, so looks like a shop job. Thanks again.

Bottle cage threaded

People, the used bike I recently purchased appears to have just one small issue. But, it is one I've never come across before. The bike has no bottle cages, yet the bolts were there. So I pulled two cages out of the spares box and got to work. One of the bolts was very stuff to remove the whole way ...

Re: Used bike description Bought it!

I went for it. Really genuine guy - feel like I'm a good judge of character. Fork change was from a prang and he openly told me. What was odd was that the insurance job at a bike shop in London changed the carbon fork for an alloy disc one. A good one mind, a Kinesis (RRP £150). Haggled down to £260...

Re: Used bike description

Okay, I'll ask. Also, if the bike has taken a fall - he's spent quite a bit to sort it. Fork, wheels? Rear mech and shifters. That is some outlay. He doesn't strike me as super experienced, so someone in a LBS may have given the all clear on the frame. Is the string technique my best bet to check fr...

Re: Used bike description

Crash was my hunch. The bike would have had a carbon fork initially, so an upgrade seems quite unecessary. However would you then buy a new pair of Mavic wheels and new 105 shifters? I'll ask and have a very good look. Plus a ten mile trial ride.

Used bike description Bought it!

People, I'm going to have a look at a secondhand bike tomorrow. It is well matched to what I'm looking for, however my suspicious intuition is slightly ringing. Does anyone find the upgrade of forks a bit funny? I can see why you'd upgrade wheels (looks like to Mavic Aksium). Also 105 shifters needi...

Steel CX experience

People,

Has anyone here owned and or ridden a Norco Search Steel S2? Looks a great bike, but wonder about steel. Now I've ridden steel tourers for years, but for a quicker bike? Any knowledge gratefully received.

Thanks,

Robert.
