Cycling on footpaths

I was recently berated by a rambler who told me that CTC (or CUK)'s policy was to campaign for use by bikes of all footpaths. Surely not? So I checked and yes, it's policy. Is anybody else aware of this? I don't remember any discussion or publicity in "Cycle".

Re: Name Change?

It seems like a very warped sense of humour to "resign" and not mean it (given the current climate). Alarmist/misleading or what?

Re: Leather racing saddles

Racing cyclists very rarely use leather these days as there are much lighter alternatives. Where leader saddles do score is on distance events. I have a Swift on our tandem (light tourer) and on my Audax bike (100/200km and that means up to 11-12 hours in the saddle). I also have a 50 year old B17 c...

Re: AGM Results

I think it is time we thought again about the validity of Gift Aid. The Guardian had a thought provoking leader article on Saturday http://tinyurl.com/2vnxtvk . Or to put it another way.. why should other taxpayers contribute funds to the CTC? Those funds could be used to pay for my kids' education ...

Re: AGM Results

Thanks for that useful AGM summary.
I was expecting something useful on the homepage of CTC, but so far (lunchtime Monday), nothing.
I suspect that many members who voted by proxy would like to know....

Re: Is the Cyclists' Defence Fund affected?

I notice that in the CTC Annual Report in April/May "Cycle", The CDF get a paragraph. This seems a little odd since the CDF is theoretically independent of the CTC (some CTC employees are involved in management of CDF). Does anybody know if CTC Trust ever donates funds to the CDF? There do...

Dumfries and Galloway: touring ideas?

We are planning to tour in Scotland this year and D&G looks good. Are there any good sources of touring material that anybody could recommend? I seem to remember that some years ago CTC Birthday Rides was in D&G.
thanks

New top for Brooks saddle?

Does anybody know if it's possible to get new leather for a Brooks saddle? I have a Swift that could do with a new top.

Campag Ergo shifting (of its own accord)

My Campag 8 speed Ergo levers have worked wonderfully until recently.
Now occasionally the rear mech will change up of its own accord.
(a bit like what used to happen when friction levers got slack).
Question: Is the Ergo lever worn out or is there a simple fix?
