Smooth radio ad

Has anyone heard an ad on Smooth radio advocating wearing helmets ? Ive been told about this but as yet not heard it myself. Basically its lying as usual, along the lines of " wear a helmet and you will survive a crash , dont and you will die " Needs reporting . Any info ?

Re: The helmets thing

I think one of the saddest things is the amount of so called "Road clubs" now demanding all riders wear helmets on rides. Apparently educating riders how to ride in a group is now beyond the wit of a club nowadays. The biggest laugh is they say " Oh we dont agree with compulsion but i...

Re, Idiots on bikes

This is a post ive copied from the Bolsover and District CC facebook page. Makes me feel proud to be a cyclist. "Rode through Bakewell today, stopped off to use the facilities and was approached by an official looking person and asked to put the word out. It appears a group of road cyclists in ...

Re: Unbelievable

A cycling friend of mine took his HGV class 2 licence a year ago and his instructor referred to cyclists as "organ donors" and then went onto explain why their life span is on par with your average fly ! Trouble was he went on at length to explain his reasons and my friend although initial...

Re: Visibility: why are do so many riders in black

I never said it was equal responsibility but a cyclist can help themselves and should. We dont live in a perfect world get used to it, you may find in life you have to do things you may not like or agree with, riding in black is your choice, i think its foolish. How long before some insurance scumba...

Re: Visibility: why are do so many riders in black

Because we`ve bred a generation of cyclists who misguidedly believe that it is the motorists sole responsibility for the welfare of the cyclist not a joint responsibility which it is. Fashion or not, it always better to wear brighter colours, common sense really but then again that really is going o...

Re: Cyclist at fault, says Nottingham police

As a Notts resident myself i`d just like to say that in my humble opinion the Notts police, when it comes to cyclists are less than useless. My own experiences and that of others lead me to the conclusion that either they want us off the road or are just too bone idle to do anything about the protec...

Re: Cheap simple cycling.

Lets face it folks, its the Dollar Bill. Never in my life has there been so many millionaires throwing money into cycling, why ? because theres big bucks to be earned ! why else. Taking away the more serious long term cyclists which show themselves on here, we are in the midst of a fashion, fad, cal...

Re: Hatred, stupidity or both?

I dont think anything will ever change until the driving licence is seen to be a priviledge as opposed to a lifelong "right". More suspensions and testing every ten years. Would make everyone a better driver

Tyre rolling resistance

Hi folks, My partner is doing a physics project on the effects of tyre size, weight etc on rolling resistance. Could anybody suggest any original experimental articles that could be quoted ? Any ideas gratefully received.
Cheers, Paul

Re, Facebook group

Hi folks, Just a quick one to guage response, i think it goes without saying that there are a lot of cyclists out there very angry about the treatment they receive at the hands of motorists and with the attitude of some police constabularys, what about getting a facebook page up and running with thi...

Re: Carbon Fibre

In a word comfort. A good steel frame will offer you a far better ride over a long distance as it has an innate spring to the frame . Both alloy and carbon are too stiff for this use. Repairs and/or mods are far easier with steel too. Carbon is fine on all out racing bikes but the longevity is for m...
