Re: Taxes
I have just come on this discussion so probably missed bits out. Life is good for many who are here now and who have worked and paid taxes and therefore deserve their present lifestyle to some extent at least. History however gives some less good indications for the future. Looking back to say ancie...

Re: Senior membership
It would be nice to be young enough to worry about a membership cost at age 65. Can't remember that far back!

Re: N+1?
I have currently 5 plus a folder in progress. Since we have just got a small car a working folder is becoming urgent as I cannot fit any of the others into the car. It could be useful with my bus pass so long as I still have it. If the Scottish elections take us into the dark ages again the bus pass...

Re: Legs
I take it slowly for the first 2 or 3 miles which is usually enough to warm up without any fancy exercises which are a modern invention. Just start slowly and speed up when you feel ok I notice I originally had a typo which said withgout but noticed it in time to remove it. I live at the top of a st...

Re: The Royal Wedding
I really enjoyed the last big royal wedding.I was in Glagow Western Infirmary Level 7. Not a happy place since many of the occupants suspected (correctly) that they were about to die fairly soon. Obviously I escaped but on that day we all knew that nobody was going to wheel us away into the nether r...

Re: Peaceful Protests
I have not been to London for many years and have no desire to go anywhere near the place. However I have made a note to travel to join the party in Trafalgar Square as an exception to my rule. Reohn2 and supporters have got it dead right.

Re: AV
In local elections in Scotland AV was used last time round. It produced some strange results in our local area. Two candidates in our ward ( or whatever it is called nowadays) were elected to serve on the local council. While I am happy enough with the result the two candidates were IMO definitely m...

Re: AV
Scotland has a weird system which is a hybrid of first past the post and additional member system. Don't ask me to explain it .I cannot understand it and considering the confusion at the last Scottish Parliament election nobody else could either. I did give us a good result right enough but the dang...

Re: anti-windturbine group uses SMIDSY argument against cycl
Wind turbines versus raptors (and any other birds). My younger son spent about 4 years on windfarm maintenance and says that he has never found any evidence of bird/blade collisions. This ranges from southern Scotland to Caithness with plent of birds around all locations.

Re: Pimp my Kingpin
451 tyres are not difficult to get? Where do you get them as so far I have drawn a complete blank? All the 20 inch tyres I have seen so far are for 406 rims. Help! I have just got a Raleigh Stowaway which needs new tyres and tubes.

Small tyres and tubes
I have just got from a skip a Raleigh Stowaway in reasonable condition all round except for tyres and tubes which are completely shot. These are 37 x 451 and are now out of date I am told. Anybody know of any mail order possibilities. They are also described as 20 x 1 3/8 but all "20 inch"...

Re: folding bike
Question. I have just got from a skip a Raleigh Stowaway in not bad condition.Bit of rust but fixable. Tyres and tubes are shot tho' and I cannot find on internet suppliers 37 x 451 size tyres or tubes. All seem to be 20 x various sizes but these are too small diameter for the existing rims which ar...
