Solihull
Please could someone who knows the area please give me some idea about cycling in and around Solihull ? My husband and I ride a tandem, prefer on road, quiet lanes etc and do a considerable number of miles per year so like to have a choice of routes. Thanks

Re: Query about taking a bicycle to India
Last February we flew to India with our tandem, it was in two separate bike bags. We didn’t have to register it anywhere.

EuroVelo in North Germany
Hi, we are starting to plan a long distance camping tour for next year. The initial plan is Hook of Holland to the west of Poland and then returning along the Baltic coast to Hamburg. Does anyone have any recent experience of the EuroVelo routes in this area ?

RECUMBENT POSITION AND SUN/HEATBURN
When we ride our Hase Pino tandem I am in the recumbent front seat and in hot sunny weather my thighs get very burnt. I have tried factor 50 sun screen, wearing three quarters, wearing thick denim, combining 2 of these at the same time but whenever it’s warm/ hot sunny weather I still end up with a ...

Re: Hip replacement
Had my left one done just 4 years ago when I was 65. They won't let you out until you can manage stairs, I came home the 3rd day, was very particular about doing the given exercises and by the end of the first week I was walking without a stick. Back on the bike in 6 weeks and have done about 10,000...

Re: Salisbury, Wiltshire
Many thanks for the help, got it all written down. The A360 Devizes Road is the destination otherwise I wouldn't be going through the city, much prefer small lanes .

Keeping Dry on a recumbent
Has anyone found a jacket that actually keeps the rain out when riding a recumbent ? Any recommendations please.

Re: Inland route north of Inverness
If you go up past the Crask Inn as far as Altnaharra you can then bear right and go up Strath Naver to Bettyhill. It's a beautiful ride up there and very quiet. There is a hotel at Altnaharra but I haven't been inside so I don't know what accommodation they have. I believe the hotel at Bettyhill has...

Re: Help to plan a route : Inverness to Didcot
Try the CTC journey planner, you have to enter several sections as it won't do lots and lots of miles in one go but it may give you some ideas.

Re: Cape wrath to Kingsgate
We are doing a similar ride on our tandem in September. At first we were going to do Dover to Durness then thought as we live on the south coast ( in the middle) why not just set off from home. Then as we were having to book various things in the far north decided to go up there then ride home. Roug...

Re: Hip replacement
I had a total hip replacement in March 2013, I was back on the bike after 7 weeks ( it could have been sooner but I had to get cleared by the surgeon first ). Have now done just over 5000 miles since then, absolutely no problems. I saw the hospital physiotherapist who gave me exercises to do at home...

Re: Wicken Fen to Ely (NCR 11)
Can't really help because it's a few years since we did this route and we were on solos then, hadn't yet found tandem joy :-) Anyway I just wanted to say that we remember Wicken Fen as being just wonderful, a very evocative area. There were also the Konik (think I've spelt that right !) ponies that ...
