Re: Snakebite!
I remember walking down Fore Street in Newquay one Saturday night about 30 years ago and seeing some hairy biker stagger out of one of the pubs and projectile vomit purple liquid onto the street below..............Oh sorry, wrong sort of Snakebite

Bicycle Model Kits
Does anyone know if there are any makers of bicycle model kits? Like Airfix or Revell etc, I am sure I have seen kits somewhere but can't find anything on the net.

Their mini track pump is excellent, gets up to 110psi very well.

No offense to CTC but you will find more info on LFGSS, try Googling it. Its a forum specifically for fixed gear and SS.

As a kid, I had a red Viscount Sebring International complete with 5 speed Simlpex gear mech and those silly little miniature mudguards! It lasted a good five years before I managed to bend the forks to the point of fracturing by bumping up kirbs trying to follow my mates on their Choppers and Grifters! Looking back, it was a very good quality bike for the money, aluminium centre pull calipers, ally bars and a strange cast stem with a T shaped cross section.
My brother was a keen cyclist and I inherited his Aerospace Pro when he moved up to a hand-built frame. I must have had to the only Aerospace Pro in Hampshire with cow horn handlebars and knobbly mud tyres
You were lucky mate, my parents would only let me have a Tomahawk when I really wanted a Chopper.

Re: Viscount bicycles!!
Hey Ben, I can't help with the forks, handlebars or decals but I may well still have the original levers from my Viscount? I will check later, if I have got them still you are welcome to them.

Re: what makes you fall when clipless?
I had a nasty incident earlier this year whilst riding round a mini roundabout. A woman entered the roundabout in front of me whilst talking on her Blackberry , didnt see me there at all. I hit the brake and did a sort of unconventional unclipping of both feet coupled with jumping down off the bike and planting my feet on the road. Did myself a rather painfull injury to my twernt and brought tears to my eyes. At that moment I wish I had been on flat pedals but the unclipping reflex I had developed saved me from a much worse injury. The reflex will come just stick at it. I have never used straps and clips so cant comment on that side of foot retention.

Re: what makes you fall when clipless?
For me it was years of riding flat pedals without the obvious need to unclip, and a bit of brain failure too. Got caught out a couple of times when something unexpected happened just as I was about to unclip and distracted me. Eventually it becomes second nature to unclip. The worst part about forgettig is the embarassment that comes with falling over in front of other people and motorists. I failed to unclip in time once and fell over in front of about 100 other riders, most embarassing. But I probably would have laughed and cheered too if I had been watching me fall.

Get yourself a couple of Fabric Horses, they make carrying D locks a breeze.

I reckon its something to do with the military, there's lots of MOD activity in the area.

I was told at the weekend at Ebbsfleet that you can take a folder on at anytime but a standard bike is only allowed on outside peak times.

Probably for the same reason a lot of people join gyms and only go a couple of times, good intentions but lack of motivation and determination.
