Re: Pearl Izumi Waterproof Softshells
I can't comment on the above tops but I have a PI cycling jacket. I picked it up 5 years ago and its been fantastic, very good quality. I use it for riding mostly but also wear it down the pub, walking the dog etc. It seemed pricey at the time (£75 in a sale) but its been an outstanding garment. Its looking a little tired now but I just can't bring myself to part with it.

Re: proletarian classics
I can see your point Glueman, I just like the stripped down look. I run an old Viscount on 700s and an old Carlton on 27s. I make sure that I dont do anything to them to prevent them being reverted to gears. This means retaining all the original parts, even if they have had it. And only once on my first conversion did I remove the cable guides. The two I am using now are whole and intact.

Re: Lightweight headset spanners
I always have a weeny Bahco 6" adjustable with me, the jaws will open wide enough to deal with a 1" headset, and it can be used on other parts of the bike too. It doesn't weigh much either but does cost about 30 quid.

Yes I have been on this site it great, there's some lovely old bikes on there, most of them need converting to fixed gear though.

Re: Constant Puncture's
It could be to do with your road position? New or inexperienced riders oftern tend to hug the kerb area. A lot of crap on our roads ends up here. I ride a road bike running 120 psi tyres and avoid the edge of the road, along with puncture proof tyres has given me 18 months flat free riding in London.

Re: Help! - Wheels for a 1980 Raleigh Road Bike
Where are you based Phil? I have a set of 27 inch wheels that I think would fit your Raleigh, they came off my 1974 Carlton Grand Prix when I converted it to fixed gear. You are welcome to them if you can collect them? I am in North London at the moment.

Re: Viscount bicycles!!
Been riding my Carlton conversion this week as the Viscount has been off the road. The experience has made me realise how tight and responsive the Viscount is. Roll on Monday and back on the Viscount.

Re: Viscount bicycles!!
Definetly! Get that bike back on the road. There was a Viscount on Ebay recently they were asking about 200 quid for it. There's a definate upturn in their prices.

Re: Immobilise your bike...........
Personally I have never had any of my bikes stolen, one of my cars once but thats another story. I don't think I would bother registering either I would rather concerntrate on not having the bike stolen in the first place. Apart from when mine is being ridden its always locked up. With at least two good quality locks (Kyrptonite Evo Mini & Abus Granite) and to something large and immovable and in a public a place as possible. I find it amazing how many ridders buy an expensive bike, say in excess of £500 then spend diddlysquat on a lock.

Re: Removing Dents from Tubes.
Lol, yes it was Hilary, good guess. The frame arrived this afternoon and it turns out to be much less worse than I thought. A good respray and a strategically placed bandana etc will hide the dent no problem. Thanks for all your advice though guys, much appreciated.
