Re: Old frame/ new wheels....?

I recently fitted my old frame which was designed originally for 27" wheels with 27" wheels after removing the newer 700s that it was wearing. To be honest there isnt a great deal of difference. The new 27s obviously fill the frame a little more but in my mind the 700s werent too bad either.

Re: Fixies - why SO expensive

I have always found that old 10 speeds work best, re-use as much of the old bike as possible. A cheap ish wheelset for around £120. But you have to factor in a few consumables such as bar tape, new tyres and tubes etc. Its like anything in life theres a low limit that you can't probably get below bu...

Re: Spot the cyclist

I never get too close to my GF when we are out riding. As a relatively inexperienced rider she oftern does random things. She is getting better the more she rides but still oftern hits the brakes just before shouting something back to me about a lovely view or a pretty cottage.

Re: My first ride with SPD shoes???

I had an unclipping failure on a club run in front of 100 other riders. Everyone cheered, it was quite funny really, only my pride got really damaged. Its happened to everyone at some point. About 10 minutes later another rider did the same in front of the same group, everyone cheered again, includi...

Re: U lock mounting

Depending on what clothing you wear when you ride you could try a 'Fabric Horse'. Its a loop of recycled seatbelt material desingned to attach to your belt. The lock then slips into that,it sounds odd and feels it a little too to begin with. But now I wouldn't be without mine, having said that I onl...

I dont really want to hijack the OPs thread entirely with this although I guess I did this originally by posting what I did. You can PM me if you wish to discuss it maybe?

Re: New Zealand tips needed

Good Luck with your trip. I hope you don't encounter the Moari customs officer that I did in Auckland. He accused me of being a drug user and was convinced that because I was from London I therefore must be an addict. He also reckoned that a swab from my rucksack revealed heroin. Not the sort of cr...

Cup & Cone BB Axle Length?

I am thinking about replacing my cup and cone BB but am unsure of the correct points on the axle to measure to get the correct axle length? Is it the entire overall lenght including threads of the pedal retaining bolts or is the correct method the said overall length minus the threaded section at ei...

Re: Yet another Helmet thread

I have given up wearing a helmet altogether after 4 years. Gonna take my chances and hope for the best, it's a lovely free feeling. Just wearing a cadet cap at the moment for sun protection. * curls into a ball and waits for flaming to start*

Re: Emergency C02 cannisters for punctures

I have tried the CO2 cylinders in the past but have never found they get the tyre up to a good pressure, am I missing something/technique? I carry a small folding track pump, this easily gets my tyres up to 110 psi. What sort did you try? Mine is this: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/Innovations_...

Re: Decent lightweight bike lock

I find it constantly annoying that I have to carry a heavy duty lock to protect my bike from tealeaves. The best I have found is either a Kryptonite Evo Mini or a Forgetaboutit

Thanks for that. I tried again last night and it more or less worked first time. Moral: don't attempt bike repairs when you are tired and weary :-)
