Re: Americanisms

Whilst queuing recently at a station coffee bar I noticed how many Brits have adopted the American way of ordering....' Can I get a blah, blah, blah'. Can I get???? It makes my blood boil.Stupid that one small expression makes me so mad but it does.

Re: Just can't be bothered any more

Motorists are a selfish bunch on the whole. I know this cause I am one too as well as a cyclist. They vent out their frustrations on anyone they can be they cyclists, peds or truck drivers. I used to swear at cyclists for holding me up and slowing me down before I became a born again cyclist 6 years...

Re: The madness of headphones

For me ears and hearing do play am awfully big part, possibly not 50% but still a large part. I certainly wouldnt like to impare them although I probably could manage without them if I had to. I just choose not to as I feel it isnt safe, if other people wish to it is their choice, provided that choi...

Re: Americanisms

'Back in the day' is one I hate, not sure if it is an Americanism or an Australianism but it still grates on me. As does corporate speak that seems to be invade our daily work lives. Expressions such as moving fowards, robustly tackle, close of play. I wonder whether business degree trainees all lea...

Re: The madness of headphones

I meant one of your senses of the two you use, being that there is 2 taking one away is 50%, it may not actually be 50% but maybe 30%, but I am sure you realise this? It was an expression, apologies for not being exactly correct!

Re: Mobile phone clampdown on drivers

£5000 fine for using a mobile whilst driving and an instant driving ban, possibly crushing of the vehicle you are in too? To my mind the present 60 quid fine and three points just isnt servre enough. It is worth taking the gamble that you wont get caught, because if you do the penalty isnt too bad t...

Re: The madness of headphones

Am entirely in agreement with you regarding robbing yourself of 50% of your senses you use while riding. It seems to be indicative of our society since the invention of Mp3 players. How dare we suggest that anyone should not have the right to listen to music everywhere that they want to whether it b...

Re: Viscount bicycles!!

Also I'm looking to get my hands on some decals. I'm really quite taken with the bike, I just love the feel of it and I'll definitely get it resprayed next year if I can get the decals. There's a set on ebay but the Viscount badge is just silver, nice but I like the blue and red, and there are no T...

Sturmey Archer Rear Sprockets.

Does anyone know why the larger sprockets are dished and the smaller not? Is it something to do with the larger ones flexing under load? Thanks :D

Strange Rubber Tubes

I bought a puncture repair kit yesterday and it contained two odd little rubber tubes in the box. They are about 3mm wide, 15mm long and hollow, can anyone enlighten me what they are meant to be for please???

Mmmmm, I must convert all old racers to fixed gear, I must free them from being weighed down by superflous parts. Convert, Convert, Convert!

Re: where do all the old bikes go?

I would say that a lot of old 70s racers have in recent times been converted to fixed or SS, as too have 60s and 50s machines.
