Re: North Norfolk Coastline

My wife and I rode Ipswich to Kings Lynn in June 2014. It was a great ride and can highly recommend the area - particularly liked Wells-Next-The-Sea. Here's a link to my blog on the tour: https://roundthebendpart1.wordpress.com/2015/04/23/east-anglia-june-2014/ Would be interested to hear some feedb...

Re: eBike Conversions - Go on, show us yours!

Thanks for the response so far. The point (if possible) is to create an ongoing thread which shows 'how to' and the result of other peoples eBike conversion experiences and issues from which others can learn. I personally found such good and reliable information difficult to come by, so keep them co...

eBike Conversions - Go on, show us yours!

After a knee replacement and the deterioration of my other knee was keeping me off the road, I converted my Trek MTB 830 to electric assistance one year ago and I'm pleased to say it has literally put me back on the road. https://forum.cyclinguk.org/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=117417 After more than 50...

Re: Wheel Recommendation

Thanks. I have had wheels from SPA before, which were good but just wondered about off-the-shelf this time. Also meant to say 36 spoke, rim width 25mm & for a x7 speed cassette. if the hub is in good shape, I'd suggest getting a sputnik rim built onto it. Job done. You will find it difficult to...

Wheel Recommendation

I am interested in changing my rear wheel on Trek 830 MTB, currently Araya 26" x 150HE VP20 with Marathon Plus 26" x 1.50" tyres.

Any recommendations - not too expensive but decent quality.

Thanks, Graham

Re: OBREA GAIN D40 (e-bike)

Hmm, this is unfortunately getting more and more interesting, really liking the sound of this bike which could be just what I've been looking for (a) something less electric looking and better specced (b) more conventional. My main bike has been a Dawes audax - not unlike the Galaxy and Yukon Rob - ...

Re: OBREA GAIN D40 (e-bike)

I'm intrigued by this bike but is it really a tourer? 1. Will it take a rack and panniers? 2. Will it take mudguards? 3. What are the largest tyres it could take, online suggests they are sold with 28C's? 4. That headset looks a bit challenging for touring? After knee a replacement and the other one...

Re: Adding front disc brake

OK thanks. I now have a TRA which will be fitted as soon as it cools down a bit and will apply some TLC to the existing brakes and wheel setting for now. I the longer run, probably over winter, I will take a closer look at new V-brakes and levers etc. Can anybody recommend suitable integrated brake ...

Re: Adding front disc brake

About to go ahead and then read this thread which now concerns me. https://forum.cyclinguk.org/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=123021 Does this mean I must change the brake levers if I change from cantis to v-brake or is there a work around? I have straight bars and thought I'd be able to use the same integ...

Thanks, sounds good. Provisional measurements suggest it will work - thinking of these:

Re: Adding front disc brake

Plan-B (provisional) like the idea of V-brake - simpler and cheaper. What do In need to consider to ensure fitting e.g. how do I ensure the brake blocks will along with the rim - I presume some form of drop distance? + will the boss fittings be standard and work for V-brakes as well as cantis? + any...
