Re: E-Bike Battery

Never heard of this before but understand such batteries can be fickle. I will be away later later thus year for six weeks - without my eBike - so what do I do, presumably leave the battery charged at +60%? I am a little worried that by then it will also be cold, which of course batteries don't like...

Old Dog New Tricks

Early in August I started out on my new eBike adventure and so far it's been nothing but a good experience: got me back on the road, climbing, new routes and having fun again. The conversion has worked very well and (fingers crossed) without problems - I'll get back with a more technical update in a...

Re: Noisy Brakes

Thanks, after much adjustment I thought these were set up OK but you may be right and need to take a look again at toe-in etc.?

Noisy Brakes

New 26" front wheel with slightly ribbed rim finish + new Kool Stop brake pads with cantilever brakes, producing a horrible squealing noise when applied. Any solutions please?

Re: Electric conversion kit.

After some deliberation weve finally decided to go with the same people Bob went with, for a conversion kit for our Circe tandem:- http://www.electric-bike-conversions.co.uk/ We had a ride(in the car) to the showroom last week and was given a fair price for a front wheel kit with a 17ah battery moun...

Re: Moving to the (electric) dark side

You might want to take a look at my post last week and associated blog about a conversion I've just completed. I'm just back from a 35 mile electric assisted ride and it just gets better as I'm finding the sweet spots when and when not to use the power assist - in this case with more judicious use I...

Thanks Thirdcrank. Personally I like to keep an open mind about these things, you never know how life will turn out.

Electric Bike Conversion

After a TKR in 2015 and some difficulty getting back to speed on the bike I've taken the plunge and converted my faithful old Trek 830. Despite the growing popularity, frankly I found it difficult getting reliable information on electric bikes in general and converting. There are also a lot of shark...

Rear Wheel Play

The rear wheel (700c) of my wife's bike has some lateral play in it, I'm presuming the axle / bearings are either worn or it's just a bit loose? Do I need a cone spanner to remove the axle + are they standard or specific + suggested makes / source ? Depending on what I find: (a) is it worth replacin...

Re: Passchendaele

Thanks for the comments, as the saying goes "just do it", it's the least we can do! Both the Flanders battlefields and the D-Day beaches (best on or about 6th June) are very rewarding rides but, in my opinion, do some research before going so as to better appreciate what you are seeing and...

Passchendaele

Given today's events commemorating 100-years of Passchendaele, just thought I'd post my blog from a ride I made there a few years ago. It was naturally a moving experience but also very interesting and my way of remembering those who fought there. As always being on a bike connects you with the plac...

Re: What tyre sizes for Brittany Voies Verts

Good and very pleasant for easily getting from A to B but best when incorporated into a wider ride using smaller, local roads - which themselves are almost always immaculate in France and interesting. I've always found 28mm 700c tyres OK. For a take on VV here's my previous blog on the matters: http...

Ah so the threads are different, like the pedals - had a feeling that was the case but couldn't remember!
