Re: numb feet

From what I could understand, the most likely cause of the problem is the nerves going through the tarsal and metatarsal bones in the foot. These bones get compressed together and impact the nerves. Do this test. Get someone to clench your forefoot at base of the toes, the widest part of the foot, ...

Re: Clean sheets

I remember a tip from travelling/touring in places which dont provide towels (quite common in some parts of the world). Use the sheet as a towel at the end of your stay so you dont have to pack a wet towel. And also it makes the sheet obviously used and encourages the establishment to change the li...

Re: Celtic Trail gpx

Why not just plot your own route in http://www.bikehike.co.uk using the map on the Sustrans website as a guide? Then download the route or track as gpx and away you go. I have the Sustrans strip map and will transfer that to the garmin software but it's a time consuming job so hence the request. I'...

Celtic Trail gpx

Has anyone got a gps track or better still a Garmin route of the "Celtic Trail" NCN 4 from Chepstow to Fishguard they could let me have? I can't find it all online. I know OSM has it but can't figure out how to separate a route out from the mass of others. I had it all planned out for some...

Re: CYCLE TRAILERS

I have the new hitch on my city trailer. It's a vast improvement over the last one. Bombproof construction and you can lay the bike on the side which was a difficult thing to do with the previous hitch without the risk of bending it.
Nick at Carry Freedom is a great person to deal with.

Both say much the same thing. ie it was legal, fair and the Belgrano was a creditable threat to the British. That is now admitted by the Argentinean government.

Re: Thatcher

I can't think of any person since the last war who so polarisies peoples opinion. It is really extraordinary. I think that when Thatcher dies, her grave will be repeatedly vandalised. I suspect she'll have to be interred in a church somewhere. Pity really, someone could make good money be charging ...

Re: Thatcher

I'm sure somebody will turn up to tell me I am wrong but I thought the value of the Falklands was to do with the control UK had over Drake's Passage as it is the gateway to the Pacific and would be utilised by enemy submarines/shipping in time of [cold?] war. Much like Gibralter is the gateway to t...

Re: Insurance for Europe?

The EU health card provides treatment at a local hospital. If you need air ambulance, etc you need insurance. My 12 day stay in a Italian hospital cost 87000 euros which the British government paid under the reciprocal arrangement. The plane back cost 11000 euros which my insurance company paid. Ins...

Re: Foot numbness.. What to do?

My cycling is done in hilly areas and on longer rides the sole of my left foot, only the left one, is becoming rather numb with poor circulation in my smaller toes. Stopping for a break helps to reduce the problem, but I wonder if I could avoid it by using cycling shoes with a more rigid sole? My c...

Re: Rohloff - How to go faster?

I’ve been following this because I am thinking of a Rohloff Hub Geared tourer (700c). plus it's an almost maintenance free, fit and forget system. and it costs nearly as much as a decent bike! I've been running a Shimano triple for 4 years, around 5k a year all weather - I rarely clean the chain (a...

Re: Rohloff - How to go faster?

I’ve been following this because I am thinking of a Rohloff Hub Geared tourer (700c). I’m not interested in high speed but am interested in being able to climb hills, fully laden. By the same token, I want to travel above walking pace on flat roads. So, to cut a long post short, can anyone with exp...
