Re: Merging GPX files

I often download gps files and sometimes they are comprised of small sections which by themselves aren't much use eg French gps routes from the Eurovelo sites I'm just planning a trip to Budapest via Berlin and Prague on cycle.travel in smaller sections, say 3 days at a time. I'd like to see larger ...

Re: Cycle Travel Planner Question

How do I get an Archie's campsite file into cycle.travel? I did this earlier but like an idiot (don't answer that!) I can't remember how. Been a bad day! Answered my own question. Use the upload button - doh! To be fair I did try this but as I was uploading several countries sites it took for ever....

Re: Merging GPX files

Perhaps you could open a business joining gps routes as there's a dearth of simple software to use. Often I find that on a trip I get to the end of the plotted route without knowing it and miss a turning. Once went 8 miles further down a French cyclepath when I should have turned off. No alternative...

Re: Best time of year to cycle across the Netherlands to Germany?

A typo - too early for me!
Unpredictable as I feared then but good to know. Pack the winter stuff and it's bound to be warm and visa versa. :( Are the campsites open?

Re: Hook of Holland parking

https://www.stenaline.nl/en-GB-nl/crossings/hook-of-holland-harwich/ports €7.50 for each ofthe first two days, then €5 a day. Other sites report Dutch authorities taking a dim view of long term roadside parking, especially of foreign vehicles. Edit to add: some suggest leaving cars at Rotterdam air...

Re: Trike on Flixbus

What’s their written policy - might need to have it a bag? Not clear. Just says "special luggage up to 240cm h,l,w combined and 30kg. Will take bikes but not electric bikes, tricycles can't by carried as bicycles. If we fold them and wrap the chainset thereby hiding the motor and put the batte...

Hook of Holland parking

Might take a car across to the Hook of H and park for 6 weeks. Any ideas where to leave it? Before anyone says leave it here it's because we are riding trikes over to Austria and if we can't get back on public transport then we can go get the car etc. It's not much more to take a car on the ferry an...

Trike on Flixbus

Has anyone put their trike on a Flixbus back from Austria / Eastern Europe to a channel port? Folded they just fit under the "special luggage" size limit and I'm sure if there is an issue a bung to the driver will sort it out? Love to trike back but we don't have the time.

Re: Best time of year to cycle across the Netherlands to Germany?

Plan to trike from Hook of Holland to Berlin on the EV2 starting mid April. I think some campsites are open but I'm more concerned about the weather. The Hatz mountains are cold, down to 3c at night which isn't very funny. Has anyone been over that way in April?

Tried that and yes it's very fiddly. I'm hoping for a no brainer solution.

Re: Merging GPX files

Was searching under "merge GPX files", searching for "edit GPS files" brought up GPS Editor on the Apple Itunes store which claims it'll do this but then so did Adze. Worth a punt at £5 but I'm not holding my breath.

Re: Merging GPX files

I use MapSphere GPX Track Editor which allows you to open any number of tracks which can then be selected and merged. Download it here;- https://download.cnet.com/GPS-Track-Editor/3000-20422_4-75720240.html Just noticed that you use MAC, don't know if they support it.... Windows only I'm afraid. Ap...

Re: Merging GPX files

I use gotoes https://gotoes.org/strava/Combine_GPX_TCX_FIT_Files.php For Audax, I always record and save in sections and join afterwards to upload to Strava, it's worked with Garmin Etrex, Touring and 200, plus with a simple logger. Although it's promoted as a utility for Strava, you get a GPX file ...
