"Under The Shade of the Old Apple Tree" will save a few bob on undertaker's fees - I'd be quite happy with that. Gosh, just look at the size of his Bramleys ......... Happy days, Ah, Bramley apples, nothing remotely as nice here. Every french friend we've given them to love them. Maybe we...

Re: Cyclists' take on the power of polls...

Boris was elected on the promise of one thing: 'Get Brexit Done'. In this he's largely succeeded although it's not certain if we'll have any agreement. His government's handling of the C19 has been very poor and in spite of die hards (where is Carpet Cleaner?) many feel that he and his ministers are...

Re: No Delay in Renewing Passports

She did it all on line. We do live in France and allowed for some delays in returning the passport in the post, but it got there very quickly. Maybe there are extra checks as we live abroad but don't know. I renewed mine 2 years ago, again on line and I'd received my new passport in just over 2 week...

Re: No Delay in Renewing Passports

Must be luck of the draw. My wife sent her's on the 11th June and is still waiting. Message from passport office that they'd received the old passport on the 3rd July. We know from the tracking it was delivered 3 days after posting.
I'd advise anyone not to leave it til the last minute.

4 stroke v2 stroke. Power output per cc is lower from a 4 stroke. They are also heavier and more expensive to manufacture. 2 strokes are smelly, noisy and tend to vibrate more. I've been using my Mccullock strimmer for over 20 years and it's coming to the end of it's life. I'd been thinking of buyin...

Re: Cycling Across France

Hello, Roscoff to Nice via the 'eastern' route (Lyons) is a regular for us, returning via the Canal du Midi and Bordeaux. Plus or minus 4000 km, all the way around. We often meet/adopt single cyclists, some more organised/less lost than others, but just go and do it - you will have fun, because Fra...

Re: fifties raleigh

As Brucey said the spec must have varied. My bike (sadly stolen) was exactly like the one pictured in the Ad, even the same colour, but had a 4 speed hub.

Re: Agriculture

It’s not only the uncertain future support but also the impending loss of the export market. The last 20 years a lot of our hill lambs have been exported. The small ones to Italy, larger good quality lambs to Germany and a lot to France if they are feeling cooperative. The French flock numbers have...

Bring on reliable, safe self driving cars. Stopping or not at lights would be no longer be an option.
I'm not sure how to stop cyclists doing the same thing though.

Re: I drove a normal car yesterday

We can certainly vouch for the reliability of Toyota. Our Yaris, 2008 but not hybrid was bought new and to date, apart from servicing and tyres, we've only had one repair needed. This was a rear wheel bearing and was eye wateringly expensive. I've always had cars where you just changed the actual be...
