La Vuelta & TV?

It starts today but I can't see it available on ITV4 Freeview as in previous years. Is it now only available as subscription only?

I understand this. My problem is that these old school canti's remain a pig to set up.

Re: Brake pad alignment tool

They look like one of those things that you didn't know you need because you didn't know they existed, but now you know, well, they could be useful. The Jagwire is much cheaper https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/162283047997 At £5:10, why not? I have one bike with old school canti's that are a pig to set up....

Brake pad alignment tool

Hi Setting toe-in on rim brakes is one of those jobs which, while doable, is fiddly for me to get right first time. I have become aware of various brake pad alignment tools such as the Jagwire version https://jagwire.com/products/tools/brake-pad-tuner and the Trex design https://www.chainreactioncyc...

:) not a fan of schwinn Brucey? At the time a bog-standard Raleigh with a 3s hub and caliper brakes weighed a not inconsiderable ~35lbs but such was the difference to the domestic product that such machines were commonly known as 'english racers' in the USA. cheers "English Racer". That b...

Re: Help Choosing A Helmet

If you want to go off piste, so to speak, on helmets why not consider a soft helmet? The manufacturer claims that they suffer no significant degradation even after multiple impacts, they are comfortable and they fold for packing, at least to a limited extent. https://www.hedkayse.com/ This is s new ...

Re: Vintage Bicycle Advertisements; good, bad. ugly...

you've got to make a screen-printable poster using just a few colours, for the 1965 cyclo-cross championships; could you do any better than this? I certainly couldn't. That is quite superb. Composition, colour, movement, simplicity, it's all there. I must find a full size print. It is indeed amazin...

Re: Garmin eTrex30 doesn't recognise new GPX files anymore

I have had a similar intermittent problem on my eTrex30. My Gpx files were on my SD card and I found reseating the card fixed the problem. IMHO the mount for the SD card is poor and I think my problem may be poor connection.

Re: Bicycle only

With regard to your age, my car-free friends in Glasgow are older than your 68 years and manage fine. On the other hand, the only reason I keep my car is to cater to the needs of my very old, almost blind mother, hospital, doctor, eye tests, hearing tests, trips out etc. We could do it by taxi but a...

Re: Bicycle only

It really depends where you live. In a major city it's easy. In Glasgow many of my friends are now car free. With the demise of local shops and good bus services, it would be much harder in the countryside.

Only you can judge
