Interesting site.

Thanks David. Another very interesting looking possibility, but as you say, not in my neck of the woods unfortunately.

Thanks glueman - that's one I wasn't aware of - and looks promising!

I know of Dave Yates, Longstaff, Mercian and Roberts, so any other suggestions would be welcome.

Sorry to undo this thread a bit - but I feel this language rather insensitive to George's family, staff and customers.

Thanks all.

And we haven't mentioned Brake Pads/Block materials!

What impressed me most about the V brakes and Tektro levers, was the "feel" - they felt gradual, steady and stopped the bike with little effort on the levers, whether from the hoods or drops.

Thanks Mick - the Google search was easier.

Ergo/STi Levers + Travel Agents + V brakes

Apologies if this has cropped up before, but I don't seem to have much joy with the SEARCH facility here.

Has anyone used this combination?

I believe someone commented it made braking snatchy? Anyone else found this?

The reason I ask, is I've just ridden a drop bar tourer with V brakes and Tektro dedicated brake levers - and it was the best braking I've known.

BUT I want to be able to use my Ergo levers - awkward cuss, I know!

Has any used Ergo levers with Empella Frogslegs?

ps anyone got any lessons on the SEARCH function?

Yeah, but it would be difficult for me to Humbrol over the George Longstaff script on my downtube? Tee hee!

Seatposts + Ahead Handlebar Stems

Has anyone come across both in plain satin/matte black - without silly white logos?

Thanks all.

I too wonder how much is psychological. I haven't cycled for 6 years until the beginning of the year, and it may well be a confidence thing.

The dreaded shimmy hasn't occured as yet. Just that the steering feels very light and quick. Most steering appears to be done by leaning, but this bike/me seems to turn in too quick and I have to use the handlebars to constantly adjust, especially round tight bends.

Maybe my old trike head has come out of the mists of time!

Thanks P

Will try the pulling technique, as well as cleat adjustment. And get some more miles in. Unfortunately the Trice's 20" rear wheel won't fit my turbo trainer.

Is your leg extended more or less, compared with a DF position?

Cheers PW

Recumbent Trikes Uphill

Is it a matter of training different use of quads and glutes, for a reasonably fit upright cyclist to be able to cycle up mountain passes without having to use VERY low gears at a snail's pace annoying any traffic? Is anything steeper than 1:5 possible on a recumbent trike?

Currently climb Llanberis Pass steepest bits comfortably on touring bike using 30" gear. Struggle on a recumbent trike in bottom gear of 18". And me knees hurt!

Any encouraging news out there?
