Re: Kicked. Converged. Soccer. An alternative to latitude & longitude?

Pretty much everyone who works in location technology (and hasn't been hired by what3words) agrees that it's a terrible product. It's not so much the idea, which is quite smart, but the fact that it's proprietary, secret technology which they charge for. Imagine if, every time you ordered something...

Re: Living without owning an internal combustion engine

Hi all, does anyone here use a bicycle as their sole means of transport? As lifelong cyclist and car/motorcycle owner I'm thinking of going bicycle only though it may be a little more difficult at my age (68) Any thoughts? Has anyone already done this? I chose to go carless about 6 years ago. 65 ye...

^ Seems ASO has blocked this video on copyright issues!

Pity cos it went some way to showing earlier on the climb how the Rowe/Martin Jumbo might have 'kicked off' in modern parlance

Re: Road tyre wear Vittoria Randonneur Pro 2 700C x 32

Do you know what the 32mm Supremes actually measure width wise on a 17mm internal rim? I've had the verniers out just for you  Original 32mm Supreme on a Exal LX17 rim 29 and a bit (I only have cheap plastic verniers) Current version in 35mm on the same rim 32mm I don't have the current versi...

Re: Road tyre wear Vittoria Randonneur Pro 2 700C x 32

my tyres don't wear like that. to me that looks like a newish tyre with an extremely worn centre. the shoulders hardly seem touched. mine wear down all over. do you ever corner? You're dead right, re the evidence - I often wondered about that myself. Plus, as I mentioned, my pressures are lo...

Re: Road tyre wear Vittoria Randonneur Pro 2 700C x 32

I don’t think 2426 miles is that good for a touring tyre. My Gatorskins last longer than that with a thinner tread. I also ride VRPro’s on the tourer but don’t ride it that much these days now that I’ve retired. It used to get used on the commute and the occasional tour. I run mine at higher PSI th...

Re: Road tyre wear Vittoria Randonneur Pro 2 700C x 32

I've not been quite so lucky, though they are a decent tyre if you can get them at the right price. I haven't found them very long lasting and I'm not sure how many miles it's OK to do when the red starts showing, I've found marathon Supremes last me longer even though they feel thinner. I also swa...

Road tyre wear Vittoria Randonneur Pro 2 700C x 32

Just replaced my fourth Vittoria Randonneur Pro tyre (this a rear) on my most ridden trad touring old farty type Longstaff bike. Over the years of running these tyres i've not had any punctures (other than leaky Schwalbe inner tune valves) nor loss of grip or confidence in them. Not added up the spe...

I see ITV are still unable to upload their highlights at a sensible time though... The ITV4 highlights are available "on demand" (without adverts :D ) anytime after the 7-8pm "live broadcast" slot. Not having a TV license that's how I legally watch this particularly entertaining...

Re: Stupid that I am, advice please

I have hypertension and have been on medication for many many years. 65 years old, thin and apparently healthy. I cycle anywhere between 7-12,000 miles a year as I don't have a car and can't cope the the anxiety of public transport. I live in rural Snowdonia. However, when the temperature gets as ho...

Re: Trike conversion kit

Just wondering what riding a Roman Road tandemtrike is like to ride. I ride a tandem now but other half has just had hip replacement and is not to keen to ride tandem again. I think I'm correct in thinking https://www.anturwaunfawr.org/en/beics-antur/ in Caernarfon, North Wales, have one which they...
