Re: Jolene at 33

Fascinating! I think I prefer the original speed, but this still sounds good, which may say something about the quality of the performance. Thanks for posting! I never used to have much time for Country Music (if that's the correct genre!) until Little Sparrow came out, leaving me with an inclinatio...

Re: Does anyone else think this looks horrid?

Hi, You see bikes languishing around leaning against something on the pavement " hey look at my bike with trimmed down gears and my brooks" ... I am not sure that the people riding them are embracing simplicity in its self rather than a fashion statement, my take on it. I'm sure you're ri...

Re: Shoes help !

Personally I think its worth making an effort to try clothing on, especially shoes. It's the only reliable way to make sure that things will be comfy, and that matters when you're starting to feel tired and are miles from home. Three issues with cycling shoes: As with other types of footwear there i...

Re: Does anyone else think this looks horrid?

Hi, That's as bad as putting a brooks leather saddle on a single speed bike which used to have more than one gear :? Careful  Every time I become `freshly aware of an attempt by S to compel me to change to more and pricier gears than I want, I remember just how pleasant my last single speed ...

Re: Does anyone else think this looks horrid?

Very poor taste.
Oh, the bikes all right, as such, if it's the right shape for you -
but those white tyres are going to lose their looks pretty fast!

But the really really horrid thing is putting crimson (frame) and scarlet (hubs) together. :D
Colour blindness wouldn't help!

Re: Shuffling back constantly

Erectile disfunction for a whole week is pretty close to permanent! Well it would have seemed that way once... This is the point at which some well meaning soul suggests that on longer rides, or when experiencing saddle issues not yet successfully resolved, it can be helpful to regularly take...

Re: What a twisted use of the law?

Even in the UK I heard a married, foreign couple younger than our legal marriage age has to be recognised. However I guess under 16 and they can't consummate in. the UK without breaking the law. which is enforceable I reckon. Whom God hath joined let no man set asunder - and quite right too. When a...

Re: One thing Brexit will put paid to ?

One thing that I hope Brexit may put an end to, is blaming the EU for what are essentially our own failings. I think I am probably over optimistic in expecting even that much of a change. That would certainly be a positive outcome. Unfortunately, the unblinkered view will probably be so unpal...

Re: Getting the Tea Shop back

I think that for many (most?) people in a word association test, "Tea shop" would trigger "cake." It's simpler than that for some of us - One whiff of the heady fumes of chain oil and I can almost taste cake   As far as I can see its just another media led storm in a ...

Well...I'd agree with the OP. I have no particular objection to the current content, but it has been a bit samey for a while now. I've just thumbed back to August '15 and there was definitely a wider range of content to chat about. I think we could all benefit from getting out more  I'm off fo...

Re: New cyclist!

First ride as an adult :D First ride in how long? I think you've done ok! A bit more time on the bike and you'll find your confidence increases somewhat simply because the machine itself is more familiar. Tip When your ready, Sunday am, early - at this time of year, still dark early (You have lights...

Re: Dangerous groups on Sportives

This is why Joe Public thinks that if he sees a couple of cyclists together then it must be a race. That + the team strips + especially those handlebars 8) I think the variety of comments rather make my point about being uneasy when another rider is alongside. My imagination gets stuck in "wor...

Re: The, used to be, CTC magazine.

It seems ... to be lot of political stuff, much MTB articles, bit of family news. A lot of reviews of ridiculously priced equipment that is way beyond anything I would consider spending. Just like all the other special interest comics, in other words. They typically derive a significant portion of ...
