If they are advertised as waterproof then they should be waterproof.
If they are not waterproof then maybe say water resistant or say nothing at all.

Waterproof gloves that are NOT waterproof.
I bought some new Altura road waterproof gloves and today was the day that they had a good wet test.
So are they waterproof?
They were waterproof for 30 mins then started to let the water in.
I was wearing a waterproof jacket and my arms remained dry, I did not feel any water running in the top of the gloves cuff and the cuff was underneath the waterproof jacket.
The only area of the glove that was exposed to the rain was the hand itself.

So I'm going to have to look for some more actual waterproof gloves.

Top Gear Protests
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-29474422
"The crew of BBC's Top Gear are leaving Argentina after facing protests over a number plate which appeared to refer to the 1982 Falklands War.
The team, including host Jeremy Clarkson, have been filming in South America for a Top Gear special.
The show apparently provoked anger among locals by using a Porsche with the registration number H982 FKL.
The BBC confirmed the show's decision to leave, but denied the offending car was chosen for its number plate."
"Andy Wilman, executive producer of Top Gear, said on Thursday: "Top Gear production purchased three cars for a forthcoming programme; to suggest that this car was either chosen for its number plate, or that an alternative number plate was substituted for the original is completely untrue."
"It was reported their cars had been abandoned by the roadside and the crew were escorted to the airport, after being pelted with stones.
Clarkson flew into the country earlier last month to film a special which saw him and co-stars Richard Hammond and James May drive the famous Patagonian highway - Route 40 - to the southernmost city of Ushuaia.
Reports in the South American press suggested the Top Gear crew had left the country amid angry protests from politicians and war veterans, and demands for their withdrawal from Argentina."

Re: Water bottle with mouth piece cover
awparker wrote:Earlier this year my wife lost her small water bottle and I am finding trouble getting a suitable replacement.
I believe it was made by Elite, it had a simple mouth piece, just a tube not a pull on/off or squeeze type and most importantly had a cover to keep the dirt etc off the mouth piece.
Any help in locating such an article would be most gratefully received. None of the cycle shops or web searches have resolved the matter.
Alan
Yes it's an Elite bottle, use it everyday for work in all weathers. Keep the c*** off the mouth piece.
Even though it's cheap, it works well and the best one I have found so far.
They sell them in halfords in different sizes. Yes I know "halfords" but it's the only place I have found them, and not too expensive either.

New Route Planner
Just did a route with the planner. For a commute of around 17 miles into birmingham.
I was looking at roads that are not too busy with traffic but provide a reasonable fast route for a cyclist as I average around 18 mph.
However the planner comes up with cycle paths and canal paths and my route has gone up from 17 miles to 20 miles. And a time from 2hrs 30mins when I could really do it in around an hour I think.
Is there anyway to put in my average speed so the planner removes slow routes but keep me off the 'main busy road sections' ?
Thoughts?

Re: Islabikes CNOC 16 mudguards
My daughters had two bikes from Isla, both with mudguards and had no issues.
They set them up spot on with no tyre rub. Also found them very easy to adjust.

Just had a call from the police officer. He wanted to know if I was OK ( kind). He wanted to tell me that he'd do the paperwork tomorrow and send me all the driver's details (businesslike). He wanted to know if I'd found my bike where hiss colleague had left it (solicitous). But then he wanted to know how to describe the bike (a recumbent) and made the statement that it seemed not to have suffered any damage and was still in a road worthy condition. He asked if I agreed with that (to which I said I hadn't looked yet).
Any thoughts anyone?
Yes, don't say anything without getting legal advise.
As others have said CTC, british cycling.
Don't be fobbed off or forced to say anything. I was with british cycling and the other insurers tried a few times to ask me to revise my statement (for some reason). I refused to make any changes in my original statement.
If the sun is that bad that you can't see someone in the road then you should stop. I would say it's an admission of guilt to keep on driving at speed when you can't see anything.
What do you do? Just hope you don't hit something?
I bet if they were going round a bend when the sun was in their eyes that they would manage to stay on the road.

Shock finding: cycling causes weight loss
Phil Fouracre wrote:Gosh! Who would have guessed it, exercise and diet help you lose weight, well there. Is that why all the 'car drivers' I 'interact!' With are fat?
To be honest a lot of people I see these days are overweight.
I also find that others put you down for being fit/slim. It probably due to them not liking their own body image. The only way they can make them feel better about themselves is to put others down.
I find this when work colleagues that are a bit overweight try to do some dieting, the fatter colleagues try to put them off dieting.
I do feel now that I am in the minority in society with the 'odd' body shape. ie. look fit and healthy.

PSA huge closing down sale blacks in tamworth
Went into today and they are having a closing down sale.
I find that sales are not really sales but this sale is a proper sale.
Items are marked with a sale price and then you take another 30% off this price.
Items not marked with a sale price (which is not many) get 30% off.
You can get the cosmos down sleeping bags for silly prices. There top of the range is now £100 for a winter down bag......
I managed to get a jack wolfskin helium down jacket with hood for £65 should have been £125. Seriously impressed.
They have some normally expensive stoves left as well.
They have loads of top line waterproof left.

Re: Fly 6 rear light and camera
I've found a slight issue. When you turn the light on it goes to medium brightness. You have to go to low settings first to then get to the highest setting.
When you are on brightest setting and then turn off and back on, it goes back to medium setting.
It won't go to your last setting you used or stay on your favourite setting, it goes back to default.
A bit of a faff.

I have all my lights on during the day as well. Have to compete against the daytime lights the cars have.
