Re: Brompton Lights

My front light is currently an old Cateye TL-LD200 which is quite small and I'm thinking I might get away with the fold with it still attached.

Brompton Lights

Looking to get a Brompton in the next month or so and wondered whether they need Brompton specific lights. I've seen the rear light position, but wonder whether the front light could be any standard handlebar fixing or does the fold mean this is not feasible?

Re: Has The Cycling Bubble Burst.

Price may be more of an issue for new bike purchases. A few years ago you could get a carbon fibre dream machine with a 105 groupset for less than a grand. I seem to remember Brompton's being around the £650.00 mark and now they are close to a grand. So, maybe more people are buying second hand at v...

Re: Cycle Security in Northampton

Looks like it keeps the bike upright while you lock it up, not a bad design on the evidence of the photo.

Re: Weird interactions with other road users

It's good to know it's not just me then. I remember the Get off and milk it thing back in the 70's, there was also the "get off your horse and drink your milk" done in a John Wayne drawl also :D not sure where that came from. This has reminded me of the time I cycled home in a blizzard wit...

Weird interactions with other road users

I have big ears and when I'm cycling and the wind gets in them I find it very hard to hear clearly, particularly when other members of the public seek to offer me 'advice'. The other day I'd just made a right hand turn and was a hundred yards up the road when this bloke pulled up alongside me wound ...

Bike stolen in Leigh, Lancashire

For those of you who do your shopping by bike in the Leigh area. A colleague's bike was stolen from outside the Asda from which I gather 3 men were hanging around the foyer scoping the bike racks and made off with a mountain bike minus the back wheel. Police have been informed and CCTV is being stud...

Re: harassment whilst commuting what to do

When I used to work in Manchester (Northern Quarter) I'd sometimes go outside the building where I worked for a bit of fresh air, most days a guy would appear and start effing and jeffing at me and I would smile at him while he went on his way. Turns out he was coming from the Big Issue and had some...

Close passing & £100 fines

The Mrs received a link for this story the other day. I've not heard anything from Cycling UK is this a new law or a rehashed old one?

Re: Spa Cycles (Harrogate)

Don't beat about the bush man - tell us which so called cheerleaders are being untruthful. They're your words not mine. I suggest you read the posts and draw your own conclusions. As I said don't beat about the bush - lacking factual veracity and untruthful are more or less the same thing. No you'r...

Re: Spa Cycles (Harrogate)

I agree with what you are saying, but the trouble is some of the good praise on this 34 page thread, does lack factual veracity and seems to me the work of cheerleaders of the Spa organisation. Don't beat about the bush man - tell us which so called cheerleaders are being untruthful. They're your w...

Re: helmet cam recommendations

I've considered a helmet cam, but wonder whether there is a weight penalty and that this might adversely effect the neck on a long ride? Anyone found this to be the case?

Re: Spa Cycles (Harrogate)

There will always be those who feel the need to complain about a vendor, the same people that wake every morning desperate to be offended i expect. In the same way that "There will always be those who feel the need to complain about someone else having an opinion or experience that differs fro...

Re: Why have disc brakes become so popular?

First time I used hydraulic disc brakes I was amazed at their stopping power. I've used V brakes, cantilevers and drum brakes over the years, but for me the best brakes are the simple caliper brakes, easy to use, good modulation and easy to maintain.

Re: He didn't even stop!

I'd agree with thirdcrank, accepting a guilty plea to a serious offence is the sensible option. One thing I don't understand is that there is no mention of failing to stop at the scene of an accident/collision. Does this get rolled in with the dangerous driving offence and since he didn't remain at ...
