Re: Tory leader - place your bets

well it could be just what we need to correct the balance after the Cameron/Osborne/May years? I think his style ie non presidential doesnt warm him to many? makes him seem weak.? I'll go with policies over personalities ever time. IMO what we're seeing ATM with the Tories is a party run by a minor...

........ It is not a moral failing that you can change from willpower........ No it's not a moral failing but it is a change through willpower. Only willpower will stop over eating, smoking or drug abuse, the right help may be needed but ultimately it's the person's want to stop and taking the next s...

Re: What the heck is this tool for ........ cleaning

Forget it ................... unless you have a freewheel set. If it's a cassette, buy or make a chainwhip and buy a lockring tool. Take off the cassette and clean it that way. Do it regularly and it's easy peasy. No need to remove the cassette to clean it,I find a paint brush dipped in White Spiri...

Re: Are people lazy?

I think a lot of people are lazy. I'm not thinking of the old and infirm but of normal people. We live about a mile from our village and non of our neighbours ever walk there, always choose to drive. We normally either cycle or walk and our neighbours think we're the odd ones. But you are the odd o...

Re: Tory leader - place your bets

If I believed in one, I'd say god help us! Someone once told me that the Liverpool Labour Party was largely populated by Kirby vacuum cleaner salesmen. Perhaps it wasn't true, but it made perfect sense. The whole New Labour project felt like a high pressure sales pitch by a bunch of over-confident,...

Re: Things that make you disproportionately happy.

That reminds me of dippers on the river wharfe as we kayaked from grassing ham (iirc or a bit lower down) to the get out after the strid. You'd see it flying ahead of us from rock to rock. Then it would reach the end of its patch and fly back upstream to where we first saw it. Only for another dipp...

Re: Stronglight - varying chain ring tooth profile

Yes though not clear in the photo Istrongly suspect it's indexing tooth profile. But I've found on the two bikes I have with Alpine doubles 24t-39t I get just as clean and crisp shifts when changing up from 24t to the non index plain 39t ring. This is the same on both bikes one on a friction lever th...

Re: Cycling infrastructure (bike lanes are a waste of money)

Several threads have been combined by moderators (not just me!). Amalgamation was obviously necessary. I would like to add that the letter, besides damning cycle lanes, made other, arguably more important points. The signatories pointed out the need for national standards for cycle facilities. They...
