Re: BMW driver walks free from court after deliberately running over cyclist

Elsewhere on these pages it's always Audi drivers. Prejudice and sweeping statements are without logic . The newspaper article was wrong in mentioning the brand sin the first instance. Just like when a person caught up some criminal act is referred to as "..the blonde mother of three..." ...

Re: Britain's 'angriest town.'

Except they would know what they were voting for? Would they ... would they really...... their probably stupid working class folk .... just a protest vote .... don't realise the reality of the event ..  :D Perhaps more than half of residents, once they've had a think about the consequence...

Re: Britain's 'angriest town.'

Do the people of Tavistock have a say in every new business that comes to town.... They have an LA who have to go through a process of asking the residents if they think there's any objections to the building of a new business, the residents can then object or not,if there's enough valid objections ...

Re: Duke In Rollover

Hi, Saving grace was that no one died or seriously injured. Agreed. Maybe a loop hole that needs closing along with anyone who never was fit enough, through lets say attitude to drive? Maybe people who cause serious crashes or collect 9 or more points on there licences, whatever their age, should be ...

I doubt it was "voluntarily " since he was seen driving a few days later? It was that or be prosecuted? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-47186875 I don't understand your post. If you read the link you'll see this bit. Norfolk Police confirmed that the duke had surrendered his licence to offi...

Re: Is there a perfect bike for commuting?

This is not a friendly forum. People ask for information/advice and get negative remarks and putdowns, even those expressing opinions have "wrong" opinions. If you look around you'll see there are many like that here. Just because people have been here some time does not mean that they ha...

Re: Is there a perfect bike for commuting?

Mares The OP's question asked if there is a perfect bike for commuting. The answer is no,only a perfect bike for a particular commute,ie;one size definitely does not fit all. As I posted, you only have the perfect bike for your commute. I don't think anyone's being particularly unwelcoming to you,jus...

No ... non at all ...

But surely that's what the thread is all about, whether the people of Tavistock's complaints against the building of a hotel chain branch in their town are valid.
That IMO should be their choice.

Re: Scrap Funding For Elite Athletes.

The thing is that there's so much money sloshing around in top flight sport due to it's media coverage and following by the public, the best sportsmen(for it is mainly men)can command such high salaries.
What about bankers and politicians do we get our money's worth out of them

Re: BMW driver walks free from court after deliberately running over cyclist

I was posting from my experience, that's not to say I haven't had problems with other makes of car driven by morons, just that predominantly they tend to be German prestige marques.
To be clear,my post doesn't say all German prestige car drivers are morons.

Re: Britain's 'angriest town.'

If your job is one of the 30 - 50 the that can be life changing. That isn't such a large employer in a town with a population of 13,000. Premier Inns are not cheap / budget hotels ....they won't effect the budget b&b in the area B&B's in sort after areas aren't cheap. The really cheap B&...

Re: BMW driver walks free from court after deliberately running over cyclist

Can't understand what the make of car the driver was in has to do with this. It's much easier to feel a sense of entitlement in a 'posh' car than it is in a ten year old Fiesta. Why not collect the numbers? There's some interesting data analysis to be done here. Suppose it turns out that 'posh' car...

Re: Is there a perfect bike for commuting?

I'm sorry. I didn't realise this was a right/wrong quiz. It is though,it all depends on what the OP's commute involves. A two mile ride to the train station followed by a 20mile train journey with a 1 mile ride at the other end, requires a completely machine to riding a 10mile commute on varied terr...
