Re: Boxy cars

............You see it on VWs as well, round indicator lights at the rear and the brake light is a ring around it. I've noticed this particular flaw on VW's and on some other's too, some Mazda's have the same problem.I find it incredible that these cars are passing road worthy/safety laws. About th...

Re: Tandem rear wheel, suggestions

The only person I know to use Hope(Big'un)hubs has had nothing but trouble. I'd try to get a Shimano Tandem hub which will be spaced at 145mm but if you're not using a Aria drag brake the spacing can be reduced quite easily by removing spacers on the left side, and dishing accordingly. Alternatively ...

Re: Pelican crossing protest

drivers have a right to free passage along the highway. Villagers have a right to cross the road - not something which is possible with the advent of fleets of robot controlled (satnav) lorries running through there... The protest isn't directed against the traffic, but the traffic system - whoever...

Re: Rim and tyre widths

Tyre sizes aren't exact and I suspect it depends which rim a tyre is fitted on can alter the inflated width eg,I have recentlly fitted some 25mm Gatorskins to the same rims (DRC STtouring 22mm overall width) I have on another bike which is fitted with 28mm G/skins, the 28mm measure 27mm and the 25mm...

Re: Shifting issues triple front road help needed please

Hers how I set up the front mech:- When you're in the granny ring(30t)before any shifts are made theres usually a little slack in the cable( not quite tight) and the mech is against the stop screw (L),you will get chin rub on the outer cage plate of the front mech at about gear three or four. 1st sh...

Re: Wider caravan to come or not

"For years, the law governing caravan widths in the UK has been out of step with that in Continental Europe. UK caravanners towing with a regular car have been restricted to a maximum caravan body width of 2.3m (7ft 6in). French and German tourers are allowed to be 2.55m (8ft) wide. Efforts to...

Re: Wider caravan to come or not

What benefits? How many people worried about theft are going to opt out? And how is registration going to help with road safety? Easy tracability which would help caravan owners retrieve their stolen vehicles (I've covered this)and for RLJing, speeding etc,how many trailers do you see not displaying...

Re: Wider caravan to come or not

If an owner is worried about the traceability of the caravan, then they should register it which someone has kindly pointed out this is optional although I swear it is now at least common place and manufacturers are in with it. Not that registration on cars helps with theft. The word here is option...

Re: The Future of 4x4's?

I have little knowledge of electronics, but I have a good pair of lungs,a good pair of legs, and as far as I'm aware a healthy heart and at 56 hope that state of affairs will continue for many years to come. However if I were to become lacking in one of those capacities an electric assist bike would s...

Re: Wider caravan to come or not

My comments are more to do with the knee jerk reaction to "insure, register, test" to everything rather than a comparison to bicycles. I don't quite see the point, surely safer driving is whats needed so having someone who is capable of handling a car/caravan (including reversing such a co...
