Re: White Lightning Clean Ride Lubricant

Nothing changes,MickF will be along shortly, meanwhile my 2d worth is its not upto the job at all,I've tried quite a few and find TF2 spray the best for me,it doesn't attract too much dirt ,stays where its put and all in all does a good job.
TF2 also do an extreme version(not in a spray though) which is similar to Finnish Line Green oil, ie very sticky indeed but its a bit messy, its great for the wet season(s) though.

Re: Hedge Trimming Woes

Some time last year I registered on a The Farmers Weekly forum to ask openly from a cyclist POV if farmers could try and keep lanes clear of cuttings by fitting guards to cutter heads, something that I had seen done with great effect by a conscencious farmer down one of the lanes I cycle along regularly.
The response from some farmers was good with some generally interested, but the majority couldn't care less and some (mainly contractors)openly antagonist.
I tried to reason with the loonie element but with no luck.

Re: Where does this bit go??

It fits onto the rear mech (around the body where the jocky wheel cage fits onto the parallelagram) it can just about be seen(top right) in this photo link http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=15113
Its to stop the mech bumping the underside of the chainstay.

I not sure I am you either,or if I'm me,perhaps I'm someone else and don't know it.

Thinks.....................if I was someone else would he(or even she) know it and they did I feel it would only be common courtesy to tell me?

The correct answer is to always expect the unexpected, further more one should also always be bold enough to ride confidently with one pannier......................or two, just in case.

Remember if it gets wet to let it dry naturally and don't apply proofhide when wet.

Just thought I'd share that with you all, as it is a burden I feel I've been carrying for far too long.

And one of the most successful of these initiatives has been removing all road markings, as has been done in Drachtan in the Netherlands and Christianfield in Denmark. With no paint on the road, and minimum signage, everyone has to pay attention and take responsibility for not hitting each other.

......It appeals to me a lot. It's simple. It works. It reduces visual pollution. And it tackles the root cause - people not paying attention - rather than messing around with the symptoms.

I agree totally with what you say Ben.
We also have a severe problem in this country with responsability,if irresponsable drivers were punished accordlingly with loss of licence a reality maybe they just might start to think of consequences of their actions,as you quite rightly say a licence is easily obtained and hard to loose.
We need a totally fresh look at where we are heading with road safety, speed limits and how we treat constant offenders,as it is at the moment I'm witnessing a drop in standards of driving and scant regard for the law.

Re: What does a wheel 'ding' feel like?

As has already been said I'd check for damaged rims, either out of true or cracks and loose spokes. Also look out for damaged tyres, splits, eggs(humps on the sidewall of the tyre)or tyre out of shape which could be catching on mudguard stays etc.

Re: Foot numbness.. What to do?

FWIW,It may be the heat at the moment, the feet swell inside the shoes and maybe one foot is slightly bigger than the other, but not noticable under normal conditions but showing up more when hot.
