Re: The Bike Market. What happened.

Good points above. But where does that leave the classic, 531 etc, steel framed bicycle. I thought there was was a good market fort the old quality handmade classic, but even that demand seems to have dwindled. Are we seeing the demise of the "collector"? It could be that the cyclists for...

Re: Bike City Index, Utrecht three times more deadly than Bristol for cyclists

How much time and Km's does an average Utrecht cyclist spend on the bike compared to the average Bristol cyclist?

Re: The Bike Market. What happened.

..... Remember that electric bikes are still very expensive. A good second hand car OTOH can be bought for the price of a bicycle. Quite right,my granddaughter rescently bought 56reg low mileage Vauxhall Astra in beautiful condition for £550,a service and two tyres cost her a further £250.The car i...

I for one will be delighted to see the back of that fashion.

The average bike shop nowadays, row after row of drab looking bikes. What an eyesore !!

Re: Anyone watching women's world cup football?

We've watched quite a few games and can honestly say that I'd rather watch the women's game at this level, superb athletes... I feel the same about women's tennis. Much better than watching untouchable 140mph aces slamming into the backboards (or unlucky line judges :D ). My interest in tennis has l...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

I heard the Dutch PM on R4 this morning. He's our best bud and to quote JRM, was indicating thin gruel ahead with our 'renegotiation'. OTOH he was strongly indicating that the relentless march of the EU into every aspect of national policy was over, which sounds like the kind of organisation we mig...

Re: Overinflating tyre to make rim explode

Depending on the geometry of the rim, an iwanson gauge may not always show the true picture. The rim below showed c. 7.5mm when measured, but the reality was a lot less. Unbelievably it hadn't failed despite being paper thin, but I certainly got my money's worth (H Plus Son TB14) I take your point,...

Re: Anyone watching women's world cup football?

We've watched quite a few games and can honestly say that I'd rather watch the women's game at this level, superb athletes,no Oscar acting roles and extremely good views.I've never got so interested football and only got bored with one match. The Italy v Brasil match was a stunner! I've got to say I ...
